Ordered 2 pounds of Cerium Oxide POLISH. We'll see in 2 weeks after it comes in and I get it rolling. Can't believe I'll have been running Pre-Polish for a month by then... I haven't given up on my Lapis yet, jamesp, maybe a month in AO Pre-polish is all it needed. π

Lapis on the bucket list. I may drop it if i can't do well w/it.

Cerium oxide is really expensive,

Yes, it wasn't cheap, but I am running some softer stones and want to give them every chance at a good polish.

you can reuse tumbler polish multiple times if you are really clean with your rocks. I have used it up to 10 times before I had to throw it out.
Just be sure to clean drum and rocks after las grind really well. Also it does not hurt if you can purchase a drum for polishing only.

I give them all a good scrubbing between each change in grit. Each stage even has its own dedicated toothbrush for the job!

Everything that I've posted (and I have another batch yet to photo) was finished off with that. I'm speaking to using a rotary, so I think we're doing the same stuff...or at least using similar equipment. My last few batches were run in polish for 3 weeks. That's just me.

aDave where do you buy it from? The Rock Shed? Cody, sorry for the delay. I just haven't had a chance to get on lately. Rock Shed should be a good source. To be honest with you, I don't recall where I bought what I have on hand. Just remember that if someone lists polish as "1 micron AO," it is the same as 1:14,000. That's what I use, no matter how it's labeled. Hope that helps some. Dave
