I recently picked up a vintage Lortone LS 10 auto feed slab saw @ an estate sale. Among other things, it needs a new feed gear motor- Lortone wants $70 + shipping for one. Does anybody out there have a working one, new or used that they might sell or trade? Thanks for looking!

You will have to reverse it to be able to use it. Lortone motor is CCW. Thought I saw directions to reverse them somewhere.

Royal and others had the motor on the back of the saw. I have a LS10 and a different 10 inch saw resembling a royal and also made in Portland back in the day, forgot the brand. Both take that motor in reverse configuration, I'm tempted to buy one myself and take my chances.

Well I ordered one, so you might want to wait and see if I can pull off this reverse-a-roo. Wish me luck, the motor is due on July 10th, my colonoscopy date.

All of these "skeleton frame" motors reverse easily. Remove the two through bolts (mounting bolts). Turn the coil looking part the other way and reassemble.

Most manufacturers at least double (some triple) their cost. Grainger supplies a lot of universal type parts to all of them.

You will have to reverse it to be able to use it. Lortone motor is CCW. Thought I saw directions to reverse them somewhere. Has anyone actually USED this motor in the Lortone LS10 application? It all sounded easy peasy until I actually received the new motor from Grainger. The new motor's shaft is longer and larger in diameter than the one on my saw, so will not mate up to the feed drive coupler. Spose I shoulda measured the old one and matched specs w/ the new. Ya can't fix stupid, but ya can spend a bunch tryin'. Anywho, due to extenuating circumstances, I have decided to cut and run on this project LS10 slab saw. I've got $80 into it w/ the new motor that still needs some modification to make it work. The saw needs a new hood and an overall degunking. Bearings seem tight. Needs a new cord on motor. Will need blade also. So, I'm done. I live in Yreka, CA, is for local P/U only. The first $100 gets it! or best offer!

I would take it and rebuild it but I doubt I will be by your way anytime soon.

likewise, I'd buy it if you were closer. If you're heading up I5 for some cooler weather let me know.... Sry for the bad direction on that one.
