Thanks for the pictures! 8 is quite nice, but it looks like a laguna rather than a moc, judging from its colors, plumes, and the fact that mocs have an outer layer of clear agate. I have cut about 100 and no two really look like they should have been found near each other. I do not guarantee I.D.'s on rocks unless I collect it myself but these were all bought as Moctezuma. Very possible that items get mixed up at a rock shop though. Chuck Yup, no worries. Mexican agates are my favorite, and in my view the finest agates in the world. The variety is truly amazing. I find it interesting to try to identify them to the best of my ability, although I am still a novice because there are so many different claims even among laguna agates, each with their quirks. I think most of what you posted are Mocs, with a few lagunas in there. Mocs are known for their pastel colors, bleached skin, an outer layer of clear agate. I believe the brown agates in your pictures are also from that region.

#2 for me! I'm in a dilemma.. annual rock show coming here next week and last year I held off buying any exotic stuff for fear of diminishing my local rock hounding experience....unsure what will happen this year

The exotic stuff just supplements the local stuff. After 7 years of tumbling non stop variety is key to keeping it interesting. Chuck

The OCD in my DNA has always tended to push in one direction or the other...up to now I've focused on improving tumbling results and it's been steady progress totally due to the generous collective knowledge in here but I think I'm getting close to all I can do with the local stuff hence the dilemma. In the big picture it's a good/minor problem to have I guess

I'm in a dilemma.. annual rock show coming here next week and last year I held off buying any exotic stuff for fear of diminishing my local rock hounding experience....unsure what will happen this year Lemme tell ya something Glenn, I Have had the same idea but realize that many people on here live in Chitty Rock Hounding Areas like you and me. Sure I can drive 3 to 4 Hundred miles and get some decent stones but I now look for deals and Steals On Here, Flee-Bay, Amazon, I just got a 40 lb Box from Feather River, And I have done this now for a year and Have close to 1850 lbs of Rock to Tumble On This Shelf Pictured Below. I have everything Labeled good and now have plenty of Material to tumble. I have space for Two More of these shelving Units that I plan to put up if needed. You will be surprised what you can get if put the word out I had an Auctioneer friend know what I was doing and the next morn woke up and found a Box of petoskey stones and other specimins of rough on my front porch. Go to that show look for deals and ask questions. Don't worry that what you find will be as good as Store Bought Exotic Rough. Just my Good Luck!

I think I'm good with the local stuff for a bit yet. The rock show is this weekend so I might go and check it out tomorrow and maybe blow the cobwebs outta my wallet. Failing that I'll come to your place for a visit...don't look like you'll miss 3 or 4 boxes
