This guy purposely puts air bubbles under the HDPE sheets and cooks at 400°F, when the bubbles rise it mixes colors and creates patterns. Take a look.

Some glass artists sprinkle baking soda or cupric sulfate powder under multiple color layers of stacked glass to do similar knave. But it never makes such fine patterns as that HDPE in this video. Note he had some cut up 55 gallon HDPE drums in the background. 55 gallon drums is in most cases better plastic because it is usually UV stabilized industrial grade and won't dry rot like most 5 gallon barrels.
