Yeah McDermitt used to be one of my favorite places to go play. too bad its all been claimed/bought up. On a side note I just found out about an old pay dig site that has just came up for sale, maybe we should all go in together and buy it so we can keep it open for rockhounders?? I am not going to post where it is online until we can figure something out on it. Tony ya know this would be a great idea for here ! RTH dig site for everyone to enjoy

Its a pretty big acreage so we are probably looking at $150-200,000, but it is private property which means we have no hoops to jump through for BLM or Forest Service. It is in the North Western States.

I didn't see this thread until just now. Shows how much I pay attention...lol. That Purple Cow Agate was from the trip where we all met up with Tony a few years back. I think that was the first and only RTH rockhound trip to McDermitt. It is sad that it's all claimed up now. It was a fun place to camp and explore.

I’ve been following Caldera Rock Shop for a while with my eye on some “Gary Green” as well as Purple Cow. For the last couple months or so their Etsy site had 10 lbs of Purple Cow listed at $85. I was finally ready to order some but they temporarily closed down while they went out digging for a couple weeks. When they re-opened, they changed the price of the 10 lb Purple Cow to $140. Yikes! The Gary Green also went up, 5 lb boxes went up $5-10. They’ve also added new listings for the Purple Cloud which I don’t recall them having before. So I came on here to look for more info. I remember someone just a week ago was looking for the Cow as well and another person suggested Caldera. I’m glad I found this thread. Based on the cab pics above I’m now thinking I’m more drawn to the Purple Cloud. Does the Purple Cow quality really warrant the price?
