Liquidation is something I need to discuss with my son. A collection can either be wholesaled or retailed. Wholesale requires a deep discount. The buyer is looking for the rare and expensive and the rest has little value to them. Retail requires work. He would need to decide if he wants to retail on the web.
If I listed all my saleable cabs it would be close to $50k and would take a decade for them to sell. I don't have an inventory for my lapidary and don't plan on creating one.

I'm about to turn 79 and have a significant amount of rough, slabs, cabs and equipment. I have a 40 year old son who lives with me that has physical issues that don't allow him to support himself. I am more concerned with his future financial stability than what happens to my lapidary collection.

Baltic Abrasives, HP Lapidary and Johnson Brothers are alternatives. I bought some recently from HP at their BF sale. I bought a 280 grit rez from BA and it has held up well. The last DP wheels I bought were odd ball stuff on ebay.

I take Etsy sale packages to USPS collection boxes. I ship in 9x7 padded envelopes with a padded 1.15 inch padded jewelry box inside. Unless the package gets stomped on, the contents are secure.
There were 25,000 thefts from the collection boxes in the first 6 months of the 2023 fiscal year. USPS has changed their collection boxes to be more secure. Electronic locks and a 1/2 inch opening. I found out about this yesterday when I tried to mail a package. A lot of people pay their bills by check and thieves bleach out the payee and cash the checks. I found out about this almost 15 years ago from a coworker who put outgoing mail in their mailbox with the flag up. The only thing I put in my mailbox to be picked up by the carrier is misdelivered mail. I have two alternatives now for mailing a package; going into the post office or scheduling a USPS pickup. The service is available at my address and is free when scheduled with mail delivery. My porch is very secure.

Guadalupe is 6x10cm and the Luna is 11x9cm at the widest.

I don't know the size of the piece, but it looks like the Cab king would handle it. Work the piece vertically instead of horizontally.

The good news is that is warm enough to grind the preforms.

My latest order was trick or treat. I grossly overpaid on the Guadalupe. I've learned my lesson to ask for size and my next order includes a Guadalupe piece where I asked for size so I will have yield and value. The Howardite was also a single cab slab but I got it for 1/3 what I paid for the Guadalupe. It is old stock which sells for more than double of the new material. Old stock has the rattlesnake pattern. The new material is close but not the same. I got an 8oz piece of Butterfly wing that was sold as Cold Mountain. Lots of Cold Mountain, but the BFW is no longer available. Whatever was available went to India and made into junk.

Where's your slab saw? My workspace is outside under the roof. Dirt floor, oil and scraps. Rather disgusting, but I don't have to look at it unless I am doing work.

Sporadic warm days for the next few months. How do I get my lapidary fix. My workspace is outside and very messy. I could bring the Genie indoors and use a lot of plastic sheets. I could learn silversmithing and set some of the cabs I've made. I could spend more time cleaning my house.
I don't like any of the alternatives. I already make more cabs than I sell. I investigated a local silversmithing class. The class costs $600 plus tools and supplies and I don't know if I have an aptitude for the work. I've never considered house cleaning recreational.

My wife had the surgery one eye at a time and had the lenses replaced on her glasses one at a time.
I had mine done so I could pass the DMV vision test without glasses. I had them both done at once and was given goggles to wear for the first night. I had to wait because of covid and was covid tested before surgery. About the same as a dental appointment. I have glaucoma and put in eye drops every night, so the drops were easy.

You have any nails or fingerprints left? Dopless cabbers probably make for the best criminals.🤓 I had one lesson with using wax. My instructor gave me some of his special wax and an alcohol lamp. I could only make cabs on the weekend. I got really tired of cabs coming off the dops. It destroyed the workflow and the moment. I went dopless for over 10 years. Even being careful, I would get abrasions on my fingers frequently but I had six days for my fingers to heal. When I retired and the weather was warm enough to grind more often I switched to superglue.
