I have collected all along the Yellowstone as per the sites Fossilman indicated and have always had good luck finding Montana Agate.

This is one of my favorite sites to rock hound. Take the whole family and make a day of rock picking. Site does get picked over but still lots of fun. We also do a lot of picking near Terry Mt. We are going again in a couple of weeks.

I slab lots of agate / jasper / petrified wood / aventurine / etc. I slab almost everyday and all materials go into jewelry making and inlay work.

This would be Script Stone. I have cut and polished this stone and it is very difficult to get a nice polish. It is very soft and I could only get a matt finish at best.
