This has been a very helpful thread. I'm in the same boat as Tom, not knowing what I'm looking at or how to erode the ugly to present the beauty. Thanks to all!

When you have a chance, would you please post a pic of one of your drilled cabs before you wire it? Thanks!

I could very easily be wrong about this, but I believe the active ingredient in Preparation H is zinc oxide...

Love the wrap. It looks like a little opal house.

Up and running again. Jack- it was way worse than a spring cleaning- read their blog and it explains the issues. They said it was a hardware issue, so maybe the hackers crashed the server?

I really like your wraps as they don't hide your beautiful stones and show them to great advantage.

I'm not sure how you have your camera set, but it's apparent to me from the photos that there is more than 1 light source and that would make for a slow exposure necessitating the tripod. The other possibility is you're closer to the cab than the camera can focus. Back off a little and you can always crop and enlarge in image editing program. Hope this helps. Mike. P.S. I may be a rock newb, but was a commercial photographer for 18 years.

Jack- the 9" blade you don't use anymore- is there any life left? I have a Highland Park 9" saw and may be interested if you're looking to part with any. Mike.

Just tried to logon to Photobucket, was gonna upload more pix, but no go due to site maintenance. ::)I'm a new user of their service, and am wondering if others are having similar problems now. Although they are avoiding the term, ("hacked") the fact that they even mentioned it on their blog gives one pause...

If not using one already, a tripod will work wonders on those fuzzy photos. Nice 1st cab!

In viewing the 1st photo, I did a double-take. At 1st glance I thought the reflection of the light bulb was part of the cab. I can't wait to get my new glasses... Great job Julie!

Congratulations Uncle Stu!!! I too have a very old Rock Rascal Saw that I'm Oh so happy with. I doubt they've change much over the years. Nice equipment overall. I found out the hard way, don't use water, use oil, especially if you attempt any mini-slabbing. Mineral oil is good stuff. Hope your Man- Cave Goodies included safety items too... Eye protection, excellent respirator or previously recommended 3M masks, and if your clothes are important, a rubber or vinyl apron fits the bill. May the Rock Gods be kind to you my friend! Mike.

Phenomenal Work, Marie! Thanks for sharing. I've been working some groove wraps lately, and would like to try a weave along the lines of what you've shown. Is there a tutorial some where that might get me started? Thanks again!
