Jimi, several years ago I got a delinquent notice from the State of Alabama for sales tax. I knew I remitted the tax to them and so called the revenue department. They said that reviewing my account that I had never been late and just to wait and see if it didn't show up. Well, the following month rolled around and I submitted the current month's payment. A few days later I got a call from the Revenue Department. They told me that the current month's tax payment arrived and on the same day the previous month's tax payment arrived...with a month-old postmark on it. Who knows where that letter had been for a month?? I'm glad you finally *did* receive your packages...a Christmas miracle... Looking forward to what you do with your packages!!! (Pics aren't showing for me.... ?)

cobblestones, that sounds like a great wash table you've got set up!!!! Good support and fine screening. I've been mulling over the idea of using some of that screen material, but no something of the size that yours most likely is. Seems I've got a little bit of "solar" screening around here...a bit heavier than standard nylon screen. Maybe 1/2" hardware cloth beneath the nylon screening on a frame. Definitely some options here!
Thanks for the clarification regarding stainless steel, Lee. I'll definitely keep that option open and also stay away from the metals that you mentioned. I see, though, that you didn't mention galvanized metal such as would be in hardware cloth/screen. Is there a difference in the marking or is it that the three metals you mentioned are more subject to corrosion...or something else?

Well, I stopped by the shop and checked on the tumbler. It seemed noisy/noisier so I opened it up...slurry looked good. The rock level had gone down a bit. I ended up adding a Hardee's large drink cup full of rocks and a nice handful of filler rocks and a splash of water. That brought it up to my 75%/1.5gal mark as measured with my measuring stick. Turned it back on and after a moment it seemed to have quieted down. The rocks really seem to be rounding off and grinding down fairly fast.

Will stainless mark rock? I'm a rookie so I don't know whether you'd want to use this with rocks coming out of polish... ? Ok, well I looked at the black pan at Lowes this evening. One of them in the stack had part of the rim torn off so I pulled on the torn part to see how tough it was...it basically came off in my hand. I left them where they were...this was an ODJOB, or something like that, brand. It wasn't the one they show on the website. I ended up buying a $5.00 flat 28-quart sterolite container at Wallyworld. I'll use it till I come up with a better idea. I might try the pan that James linked to earlier. AND....it just dawned on me that I forgot to look for a plastic colander. Ah well, dollar store tirp Monday...don't really need it just yet.

Cool, Rob!!! Balsa is fun to work with. I've seen these before but never tried one. Here's a link to a post on www.rcgroups.com when during the build of a Gentle Lady RC Sailplane ...these are the wings being put together. She's in storage now as I haven't flown in several years...78.25" wingspan (not big for an rc sailplane).

4 out of 8 of my janitors didn't want to do their jobs today, so I suspended them. This means they got to spend the day in their cell. I was informed that I am an asshole. As if I didn't already know that. What type of prison/jail do you work at?

July 25th 2015 the high temperature was 97° here in the south central Alabama area
December 25th 2015 the high temperature was 81°
We also used our A/C, but mostly because of the high humidity from the saturated environment caused by all the torrential rain storms that we've had. If it's cement/concrete...it's sweating, which adds to the sogginess of things. More rain in the forecast for the first of the week. (see my signature line).
NOT complaining, just reporting...wouldn't do any good if we did complain.

I tend to over-think things sometimes... Ya think? <grin> Ok Gibbs, did I mention that the Hardee's cup held something like 37.5 ounces of water if filled to the top ring?

Thanks for all the feedback!!! Some great ideas!!! I will most likely require two different setups. One for my rough tumbls, 20# barrels and another setup for the smaller fine/polish tumbles that will come out of a Loto vibe. Mark K, the classifiers are really nice for the small loads, and lasting a long time is a plus, but they're still a bit $$$. I may opt for a plastic kitchen colander for the refined loads...gotta keep cost down where I can! I like the idea of being able to screen out the filler with a couple of different size meshes. What is the screen material made of? manofglass, you made me go look up what a milkcan funnel is. Looks good to me, though I think I'd rather have a larger screen area. For a small, Loto load it should work fine. Good re-purpose of a vintage item!!! unclesoska, I'm leaning heavily towards the plastic colander for the Loto loads. I'm just having a bit of trouble springing the $$$ for one of the classifiers. Maybe a homebrew version is possible. jamesp Looks like several options on the big plastic tubs. HD and Lowes appear to have some minor "review war skirmishes" going on...tainted jury. I'll check the one I got and see if it has any markings on it. It either came from Lowes or HD and it's been a good one. I noticed that the one from the cement company that you linked to is about twice the price as the one from Lowes, BUT...it shows as being free USPS priority shipping....Huh? From a financial viewpoint that doesn't make sense. Years ago there was a tech company (Outpost.com) I believe it was at the time. They bragged about getting anything delivered to you *next day* and for *FREE*. Well, they came out with a sale on a little camera lens cleaning kit, $3 and change. I ordered one. By George, they delivered that sucker the very next day!!!! I asked the delivery guy how much that probably cost them...he said $12-$13. That company ultimately folded and was gobbled up by one of their competitors (frys.com). Anyhow, I'm going down the road of the mortar tubs for the large, rough clean outs and down the road of plastic colanders for the smaller Loto clean outs. I like the idea of non-metal containers, though until the final polish stages it doesn't appear to really matter. Thanks again for all the feedback!!! Feel free to add more!!!!

Yeah, I was thinking the plastic ones would work better and be more "rock friendly". I can't remember...do they have some type of screen over the entry to the spout? I simple "something" shoved down in there would stop any tumble-sized rocks from falling through if you got too ambitious. I tend to over-think things sometimes...
