The green is usually from inclusions of chromium in the petrified wood. There are a number of spots (some legal) to collect green(ish) petrified wood in Arizona. FYI - There is also an Arizona park where the petrified rocks removed from there carry a curse and people affected actually return them.

If you are hearing them in your deck and they are running over your feet, you have a whack of the critters at your place and they are making more. Two rats can expand to over 1,200 in one year, unless something bad happens to them. Obviously, they are happy at your place and you really need to change that up. First thing is to eliminate is all food sources. The big one is getting everybody nearby to remove their bird feeders. Then you need to use multiple approaches to address the problem. Personally, I would shoot any that I see, set snap traps, multiple kinds of poison, electronic rat control, etc. A variety of things, as they are smart at avoiding trouble.

So pretty. Not sure the findings are durable enough for a key chain. It would be a shame to lose the heart. I think I would put it onto a necklace instead. But that is just me... At our place, we are tough on keychains and dog tags and need everything attached with the strong/thick wire rings.

A Jack Russell would certainly take care of them when out in the open, but rats cannot hide from a mink. Kinda useless info unless you have somebody local with a hunter mink. I would poison the darn rats. Once a few of them get sick, the rest will move on.

I am a guy. When I was a teenager, I loved the smell of Herbal Essences shampoo. Now, the best scent to me is.....wait for it......my dog's feet. The bottom of a labrador retriever's feet have a mild musky smell that is really nice. Well, I also like to sniff a freshly ejected shotgun shell. So there we have it, they need to make "ode de chien de chasse mouillé"

I would have to put those away when the family visits. They have a bad habit of eating the display centerpieces from the dining table and these look too appetizing.

Hardcoding such a thing into a 1 ton vehicle is not something I would like to be responsible. For instance, I'd like to think I would hit the truck rather than swerve into a bus stop where there is a baby carriage. However, some companies (ie. Mercedes) have already made the decision to program the vehicle to protect itself and it's passengers. fortune.com/2016/10/15/mercedes-self-driving-car-ethics/

Being a programmer by education, I am not sure I like the idea of self driving cars. For example, what will it do when offered two bad choices? For example, hit a parked truck and kill the passengers or avoid the truck and hit a motorcycle?

I used to work across Christmas on shift work for one of the airlines in the data center. I was single at the time and thought it best to give those folks with young family the time off. Of course, they owed me a favor for when I needed it.

I have no song to sing. I will sit her quietly and admire the work. Cut perfect.

Any fluorite that I have tried to tumble turns to clay in short order. It looks like a feldspar to me, so I am thinking amazonite.

In the old days, if you listed for .99, you got a bunch of watchers who would bid up at the last minute. The ebay fee was lower if you started lower like that. Sometimes, someone got a good deal. Only thing is, look at shipping cost as well as purchase price. I used to love ebay but hardly ever sign on anymore.

Great pics by everybody! However, I had to look up the word “terrapin". Apparently, it comes from the Algonquian Indian word meaning “a little turtle" and describes turtles who spend their time in and out of water. However, "dead people's things" takes the cake.

An alternative (which is not for everybody) is ask for a bottle of wine for the creation. That way, you didn't set a price. They have to go to the store and spend what they think is fair.

The red Realgar will turn into yellow/brown Pararealgar with exposure to light. I am not sure if the clear plastic will remove enough UV to stop that process.
