We are hobbyists. Tumbling grew into slabbing, cabbing, and silversmithing. Then a neighbor asked us to help liquidate her late father's lapidary collection. I stumbled into this wonderful site while trying to identify stones that I had never seen before. After about a year of lurking I decided to join up and be a little more sociable. Thanks to all for proving a friendly forum and tons of useful information!

For very small cabs we select short nails with the right size head and tap them into my favorite size dowels. Works with super glue or wax. We did try screws once but they didn't work well. I didn't like the feel of the metal in my fingers when I tried using just nails.

Hi All,
We are joining from Southern Arizona, warm and sunny. Our story is typical...started out with a tumbler and wanted more. We tumble, cab, wire wrap, and silversmith. Rocks are so much fun!
Thanks to all who have contributed to this forum's wonderful knowledge base.
