That’s a really cool piece. It’s more agatized than most wood. Do you know the source? Pet wood can be so different from place to place. We went to Petrified Forest N.P. not too long ago. There are beautiful colors in the wood there but I didn’t see anything agatized like your piece. It was more like jasper. Thanks for showing.

They are petrified wood scraps, and each piece has different patterns/colors. The other pieces look quite common. Some of them look like my earlier tumbled petrified wood from Tony's box:

You know what? I think the background is almost as cool as those rocks! I think it is cool too! I took pictures of both sides: A forest. A land of a house with chimney.

I have a chunk somewhere that is pure, clear, colorless agate. The only way you can tell it’s wood is the “bark” on one side. Thanks for showing. Do you ever look at your rocks with a UV light?

The only thing I remember about the bark side of that piece is it looks like the bark. Will take a closer look tonight. I haven't used the UV light. Sounds it would be a lot of fun...

You have a tumbler big enough for that thing? No I don't It came as a tumbled rock and I really wanted to see if I can improve the polish, at least on the green area, but it will be in the far future once I get some equipment, like a Dremel?

Some of my tumbled Gobi desert agates. Some pieces have candy hearts in them encapsulated in the translucent crusts, but I need the sunlight to capture their beauty. The details on the surfaces are easier to capture in a light box. Zooming in: Zooming in again:

Wow, they are like a bowl of candy. Love that last stone too.
Do you use a special setup for macro shots?

Mounted my recently received mini UV bowl on my Raytech TV5, and the movement of rocks in the bowl was instantly improved. The noise level seems to be improved as well, although the db meter on my phone doesn't tell too much of a difference, which is a surprise. The smoothness of the tumbles after a run of 120/220 is satisfactory, although it is not a quantifiable measurement.
Last year I purchased a second Raytech bowl for polish only, so that I can save some time on excessively cleaning up work. Now it seems to be a waste. I don't think it is something my local facebook marketplace would be interested in...

I am glad you like the mini UV bowl As for the RayTech bowl, I have 3 that have been mostly unused since I received my mini UV bowl.

Got some new types of rocks to tumble from delivered packages today. Already threw some into my Rebel 17 before taking the pictures, but here are some saved for the next batch: Some are more grainy than the others, and they might end up having a subpar polish just like the picture "jasper" from rockshed. This one is among the most fine grained in the batch and might have some decent polish in the end. We will see. These roughs were from Hami, Xinjiang, China and have relatively smooth surfaces. I don't know if they have an official English name. Some high-quality (fine grained and beautiful patterns) roughs reminded me of Biggs Jasper with arguably more colors, but they are also very expensive. Here is a collage of the pictures I saved from the sellers' albums. Each rough has been asked for hundreds or even a thousand dollars, which is a bit crazy, so I collected the pictures instead of the rocks

Finally finished a batch with the new UV mini bowl. It is a lot of work to sort the rocks and take pictures, so I will proceed slowly. The only Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper that I have tumbled, and I absolutely love it: Maybe I will wire wrap it once I learn how.
