Who would not love Mexican Crazy Lace! Some of the material don't get a highly-reflective polish as the other crazy laces, which actually makes photographing easier. Hard to decide which side should be the front... Can't stop staring at them...

Sumatra Island Banded Agate. For some of the agates, there is a thin non-translucent banded layer that doesn't polish, and the bands don't propagate to the translucent part beneath it, but the thin layer itself has a lot of details...

LOL Yeah, I can never get tired of collecting Crazy Lace pieces... I guess some of the patterns would be too much for those with trypophobia, but for me (and my mom) they are so enchanting. I really need to speed up my process to accumulate a box of tumbled crazy laces for my mom.

Paul Bunyan agate. I didn't notice the scratch/crack until the polishing was done. They tend to have a lot of soft inclusions, making them quite tricky to tumble. Not a surprise that the rocks I hounded from a beach in Alaska didn't polish at all. This is from the roughs gifted by my friend. I should have known the name but it escaped me... A nice little agate.

The crack is pretty deep. Let's see if I can get rid of it without losing the sharpest range of the bands.

Some of the porcelain jaspers: I probably should instead tumble them in my small 3lb and polish them more gently to see if there will be less wounds on the soft areas.

Last year, I accidentally skipped the 500 grit step in one polishing batch, and I can not tell the differences of the results with my naked eyes from the other batches that I do the normal 120/200, 500 and polish. I threw some of the less polished rocks from that batch into the most recent patch, and they still do not improve. In addition, the 500 step actually gave me some trouble on leaving a lot of black residue powders that are very hard to clean up from my Raytech TV5 plastic bowl.
I am thinking, going forward, maybe I should always skip the 500 step, and let the 120/200 step run an extra one day or two days. What are your thoughts?

The only thing that matters is the final product. I’ve made about every mistake possible rotary tumbling. Some times the results surprise you. Whatever you’re doing, the rocks look fantastic. I like thumbing through your tumble log.

Just got my order of fossil coral rough, and they look SO interesting when wet
There must be some reason that they haven't become a more popular tumbling material. I threw some of them into my Rebel 17, to see how they will turn out...

A usual weekend with some cleanup work after stage 1: But there are some pieces that are more colorful than I expected. They are called Gobi Color Jasper/Mudstone from Alashan (Alxa) Desert China, and they must look quite bland before tumbling, that I didn't even bother to take the before pictures. What I especially like about them is that they provide many shades of green that I don't have a lot in my previous jasper collections.

Some are showing nice patterns and even orbs. Not sure about the bright red piece - might not be from Gobi: From my prior experience, they should polish nicely, although slightly less shiny than the agates, because they are not super hard, not prone to crack, and don't always have soft inclusions.

Yeah when I saw the pictures of Imperial Jasper the other day, I was like: Hey, doesn't that look familiar? I don't have any Imperial Jasper (from Mexico), but I do see similar patterns of orbs on some of the highly sought-after pieces of Gobi Jaspers, which are a bit too expensive for me to have
