jamesp that sphere is gorgeous! I just ordered some green/yellow serpentine to tumble(you inspired me electro !) Only 3 days to shape in step 1, how can you go wrong ? Most serpentine is either yellow or green or a combination of those two. May have black markings too. If you get your big wallet out you can get purple serpentine called 'stichtite'. This is what I ordered(so the photo says..). What do you think ? EBAY listing says 1.5 to 2 inch pieces. I have some bigger pieces of that from the same seller. Cuts & works easy. Have a slab I'm working on polishing now.

Actually jade might be silicified serpentine ?.? Not jade: "Serpentine VS Jade: what is the difference? Serpentine and Jade are two splendid green stones that can look pretty much alike, yet if we contemplate the visual details of each stone we are going to notice that they are indeed different. The confusion between these two crystals can be so spread in the crystal realm especially in the crystals market, for instance, you may stumble upon a Serpentine stone that is marked as Jade which can be quite deceiving. One of the main differences that separates Serpentine and Jade is firstly the color tonality. Serpentine displays a translucent yellowish-green color and on the other hand, Jade presents what we call a Jade color which is a dull green sage color."

It cuts super easy. Barely had to push it through the saw. Should tumble quick.
