I lucked into a massive collection of slabs from someone getting out of the hobby the other day, and I've been meaning to post, but hadn't gotten around to it until today. My favorite finds so far have been Fire Opal, Whale Bone, Boulder Opal, Moonstone, Ruby in Fuschite, and many, many others.
Let's start out with the sheer quantity of rock: All of the boxes were full!  This is all of the slabs, piled together: Closer up: Giant Pet Wood slab: Easily the find of the day, a cross section of Dino Bone (Huge!!), Whale Bone, and an ammonite: The Rough Box: All the slabs, neatly stacked in a huge box. The while wood box in the first picture is also full of the smaller ones: Thank you all for looking. This was a total find of a lifetime and it really brightened my week up, which was needed. I also found an antique Star Diamond model tumbler which is the equivalent of a Lortone QT-66 for $30 at a swap meet yesterday. Pretty good week in my eyes! -Nicholas  |

Congrats on the huge score! I see some really nice material there. Biggs, Owhyee, Imperial Jasper (pink and green I think), Rainforest, Picasso .... Good for you!  |

All those slabs were looked through twice (on Tuesday night. Poor judgement by somebody...  ) I think it's pretty neat that I get to work some stuff from out by a member. I wasn't really expecting to see super special stuff in there. Boy was I surprised! |

I was shocked by how much good stuff I found. The good stuff isn't even in all the pictures! I found a ton of copper material (my favorite) and jade, jade, jade, and more jade. I didn't even know there were that many different types! The Owhyee got partially cut up for the cab contest this month. I thought the rainforest jasper was peanut obsidian for a while, maybe because of how big it was. There was a huge chunk of it in a raffle at the club that I missed out on so I was really happy to find it. There's some really neat stuff in there that I'm going to need to slowly work through. I love rocks! |

Thank you. I was thinking that I'd never heard of anyone grabbing something like this. I really appreciate that. I might actually contact you when I gather the courage to cut some of the opal in here. I kinda just feel like sending it to you guys and letting you work your magic! No equipment that I know of. The previous owners are apparently a very wealthy couple so that might explain the origin of some of the better quality slabs. |

Congrats perkins17, unbelievably lucky you are . How fun to just look through them all & find nicer & nicer pieces.
I look forward to seeing some nice cabs out of that lot.
Must me some landscape material in there somewhere ? !
