Rough looks just OK. Kindsley North rough was much nicer.

Did you tell them you know me? That might have been your mistake. They never give me candy when I go there in person! LOL Interesting on the quality. What did you order?

rockjunquie Tela When I was out there my order that I made online with instructions to hold for in person pickup didn't have tootsies in it but the extra I bought while there the girl behind the counter threw in a couple little bags. I think it has everything to do with who packs your order

I will say both places shipped reasonably priced and super fast. I forgot a knurled nut from my RockShed order and emailed them to add it- it was no trouble, at all.

That's disappointing about the "quality". Not making excuses by any means...but I do know things have been hit and miss since the Covid crap started. I know supply issues have been a big problem. I wonder if that forced places like TRS go to other/inferior sources...

I wonder if that forced places like TRS go to other/inferior sources... That could be. To be fair, I didn't grade the lot of them or wet them, but there wasn't much variety, at all, and were mostly bland jaspers - looked like. Plus, the medium rock mix had a lot of what I would call small filler pieces. I don't like to knock them, either, but I call it like I see it.

Definitely don't want to hide that.

How was it compared to the stuff I sent you? I just emptied the box I had shipped to me.

Your box had more variety and unique stuff. And, since you mentioned it... THANK YOU again! My daughter will have plenty to start with. It was awfully nice of you to do that.

No Tootsie Rolls for You! Does this prove the existence of a Tootsie Roll Nazi. Better ask Jerry.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get Tootsie rolls. If you want to get the tumbler rolling now, you can use a standard nut if you can get it to fit. I have a ton of screws, bolts, nails, ect. So when I lost mine for a week (tumbled it nice and smooth) I was able to just spin one on.

Made me just check the box of grit that came in this week because I was curious. Tootsie rolls were there - whew! I find the small rough is a bit too small for me. I get large if I can, sometimes medium. I did get some desert jasper a while back that I wasn't impressed with at first, but it ended up polishing real nice and exposing more colors and banding than I expected. Hopefully, the same happens with your batch!

I've been very lucky with everything I've gotten from the rock shed (tootsies included!) however the quartz I ordered from there (smoky and fire) looked more like clear and rose. However, I don't know my rocks from a hole in the ground so they may just be lighter varieties. I just ordered some more medium mix so will be curious to see how it is. I love not knowing what I'm tumbling and seeing all of the variety at the end It's like a Christmas present haha
