Completely off topic, but....
Has anyone had success with these? Are they as durable as a traditional bed setup?
I already sleep without a frame so I have never really needed the box spring.
Close to pulling the trigger but I thought I'd ask around before I make the splurge.
Some interesting options in this vid

We bought one for the camper and have been using it for seven years now - really like it. It is very durable and lays on the plywood sheet that covers the bed frame - no springs.

Some friends of mine bought one and got rid of it pretty quick as it was giving off so many toxic fumes.
I have tried the memory foam pillow, and did not like it at all. Very uncomfortable. Before investing in a mattress I would see if there is some place you can test one to make sure you will like it as they are very expensive.

Have you ever tried a memory foam topper? That might give you a good idea of whether or not you'd like it. I have had an air mattress (Sleep Number) for about 25 years and love it. Our topper is memory foam. The old kind is really hot, but the newer ones sleep cooler. My son has a memory foam mattress and a bad back. He says it's been great.

We got the memory foam pillows. They were fine. We liked them.
So we invested in a 3” memory foam topper. Nice for a few minutes. Hard to change positions. After several weeks, we removed it, cut it in pieces that would fit in garbage can. Still have the pillows. Make me sweat, so I switch back to feather pillow in the middle of the night. Mattress is a pillow top. Nice! No memory foam for us.

Chad, if you have a Mattress Firm or other mattress store near you, go and check them out in person. I know Mattress Firm carries the Purple Mattress. I'm sure they have others also.

We bought Tuft and Needle brand mattresses from Amazon. We got 2 twin XL's for an adjustable king size bed. We were very tentative an concerned about buying one. We couldn't be happier. They were fairly inexpensive ones. I believe they were about $450 when we bought them. They're about $550 now. They had a little odor but it quickly dissipated and my wife is ridiculously sensitive to any kind of odor. We've had them since Dec 2017 and they show no sign of breaking down or wearing at all. I'll never go back to a conventional mattress. I can't think of anything about them that I don't like. BTW, like a lot of them they don't call this memory foam. Might just be marketing. As a side note, we've had several memory foam pillows and I hated all of them. Also didn't care much for our topper.

I just skimmed through the video. The last mattress on there is the one we've got.

So it seems the consensus, is there is no consensus and we are all finicky sleepers to a point lol. I sleep like a dream when I'm on super soft beds which is why I even considered it. But the distaste of those who don't seem to like it has kind of swayed me. I ended up picking a Allswell matress which seems to be a hybrid of the two and is really budget friendly.
Picked up a queen with discount and free shipping for $380
Considering my last bed and boxspring cost me near 500 if I remember right this should be a nice, cheaper upgrade.
Thanks all for your input

When sleeping on too soft of a bed, the hips weighing more than the shoulders sinks deeper in to the mattress when sleeping on your side. This curves the lower spine sideways during your entire sleep and you end up with back pain.

mohs vegasjames I got the more firm purple mattress against the advice of the salesman for that reason, plus Elizabeth is a back sleeper and I'm a side sleeper. A pillow between the knees helps with the spine alignment too.

The pillow keeps the leg and hip aligned properly. Without it the upper leg sits too low pulling on the hip, which can also cause a misalignment. So the pillow keeps the legs straight while sleeping in a position closer to when we are standing normally.

I actually kind of like it with a thin pad.

I liked to try something between the knees butte pillow wasn't the first thought butte take what we can get
mayhem it help w/ the prstrate ha
Pillows are real important too altho I never had great success finding a worthy one and they are expensive
I'm using a rolled up towel in a pillow case under my wonky pillow to give some stiffness
even my water to wine making pal only had rock for a pillow hard times indeed!

We've been looking to replace our airbed with another. Wow! Pretty steep. Amazing how much they have gone up.
I like the look of the one you got. Wish I could try it out. I really need a firm bed. I keep my sleep number at 10.

rockjunquieI would call this thing firm, like a yoga mat and a blanket on a floor. Still gives a couple inches at the hips. Either my old bed was worse than I thought or this is just that much different from what I'm used to lying on. 2 days out of Chicago was crazy fast for a Sunday purchase....
