That wonderstone in picture 11 made me do a double take. It has a serious trompe l’oeil effect going on with that central colored band that makes it look like it is folded over on itself. Very cool! And a beautiful batch all around! Thanks Brian!  You made me look up trompe l’oeil! I have a piece of Fire Obsidian I started working quite some time ago...never finished it...which has a fire band folded over on itself...much like the illusion in that Wonderstone piece! Someday I'll finish it! LOL They are all beautiful, but my favorite is #4. Have to agree with brian on that Wonderstone. Great capture on that one! Thanks Robin! I thought it was pretty cool to see some "plumes" in the River Cobble!!  All very nice! I really like 10 and 11! 👍👍 Thank you SO much! I've been using that shape for several "landscape" scenes recently. I think it adds just a little better twist than a horizontal oval, which I've used frequently in the past. Plus, it allows for more of the scene to be captured. |

Very nice, as always! I love Rio Cobble #4; there is just something about plume formations...
(Technically I guess it is Rio Cobble #3 / Rock #4)

The variation of material, and the vibrancy of some of the colors in the cobble makes me so enthralled with it! The rock was thin, and I know I could only get one slab out of the rock. But as soon as I cut that slab, I saw that particular spot on the slab and knew I was making a cab from that spot! |

 I actually did get a few preforms shaped (10?) so I'm preparing for the purge when I get cabin fever on New Years. I'm one of those collectors of cabs and I'm waiting for the day when I magically learn to silversmith or wrap. I've got a little more of a budget so maybe I can get some decent tools to work with. Perk, I still remember that pile of slabs you got not long ago. I'm super stoked to see some of that material cabbed by you! Trust me...when the pile get really big...you'll want to take up smithing or wrapping to start doing "something" with them!  Trust me, I'm going to slip into a cab mania soon. I'm heading to California next week, so y'all probably won't hear from me for a while, but after that... I really do want to, just have had trouble getting interested in that part of the hobby. |
