Disclaimer: some people considered AI art offensive, but I just do it for fun and don't intend to be offensive at all. I was quite excited about some of my first finished tumbles a while back, so I created some AI art from the rocks: This one pretty much captures what I see from the rock: This one is also fun to look at: Then I went a bit wild about this one: The AI-generated art is also fun to look at, although it seemed they were not the right direction to go: I think it is a fun idea to have AI help me see something I don't see from the rocks. What do you think?

It's complimentary to the natural beauty, no different than making animals out of clouds

Interesting the ai interpretation of the many fortifications as architecture with repeated patios or decks to a cruise ship maybe. I dunno, not for me. The Intelligent Designer did it better. It's what's not their that makes the painting some times.-Johnny

interesting - never heard of this before - really like the first one, pretty landscape - so do you input a picture of the rock then the program makes an image out of it?

pebblesky - Those are amazing!! I have to agree with Chad about it being no different than seeing shapes in clouds!! You've probably mentioned it before, but what AI program are you using?

Now I am interpreting the interpretation...the last one looks like part of a dishwasher to me!

Interesting! What did you tell AI to do?
Technology has come a long way since my first foray into high tech—- a red Scripto mechanical pencil when I was in the 7th grade.
Thanks!

Those are pretty cool, the architecture in lace and moss is an interesting interpretation. And Montana moss cacti... Now what I need is AI that can make my inadequate photography be what my eyes see.

This is actually super neat! Tell us more about how you did it!
Edit: Now I just need an AI that does my job for me.... then I can look at rocks all day!

I absolutely LOVE those!!! Please keep them coming! Your tumbles are impressive already, and these AI generated images enhance them for me. Thanks for sharing! I have fooled around with DALL-E and Midjourney a few times and have been impressed with the results. This is a great use of those tools!

Good to know that some of you also tried generative art! For those who are interested, I am using Stable Diffusion (and you can give it a try yourself here: huggingface.co/spaces/stabilityai/stable-diffusion), with background-removed images of my rocks, something like this: Plus some keywords that I think might generate interesting results, such as "desert with cactus". A more verbose example that I actually used as text prompt is: a watercolor painting of sunset on the desert with white sand, short cactus; dim cloud; best quality, extremely detailed; white, yellow, orange, red, black, dark green. For the red crazy lace agate, I used some keywords like "patio, buildings, roses" etc etc, which yield results that a bit weird, but fun. I did try different combination of keywords for that piece but nothing popped up super harmonic. Maybe you can enlighten me on what you see for that piece For generative art, I also use MidJourney and an iPhone app "Dream" for fun. They are both impressive in their own ways.

It's what's not their that makes the painting some times.-Johnny I agree the result was weird. it is me who interpreted it like this (patios, buildings, roses) and gave AI my keywords to try to create something that matches my rock as much as possible. So AI probably did a fine job, it was just my imagination going a bit too wild

I have a detailed explanation above that hopefully will make sense if you want to try it out yourself. Basically image with clean background + my text prompt.

I'm curious as well. Chat Gpt is a thing I've being playing around. Kind of fun in a way Yeah I also use chatgpt. It was sometimes hilarious and gave 10% inaccurate information among 90% of accurate information (which makes it extremely dangerous if you count on it for information retrieval), but it did a fine job for something that doesn't require a high accuracy or reasonable logic, like a kid who just starts to learn to write poems or songs.

Just finished a batch of polish and here is one of the Porcelain/Sci-Fi/Exotica jaspers: Asked stable diffusion to generate tree branches and magnolia petals on a porcelain piece, and here are some random results: A slightly more weird interpretation as butterfly wings:

I really like these (especially the center one in the top row). I noticed the AI even healed the fractures.
