Hi all. When I got home from rockhounding with Cal(Redwoodrocks) my phone was ringing but decided to let the answering machine get it. So I listened to the message and it was my daughter telling me there was an estate sale about 3 miles from where I live and they had rocks and saws for sale. So I went with $2 in my pocket and this is what I came home with. some close ups-these are thumbnails He had a vib lap for $100, but the rest of the equipment was gone. The sale ended at 4:00 and I got there at 3:50. Not bad though for $2. Ed

Yes - Easily $10-$15 of material. THe Morgan Hill Jasper might be worth the most.

I just wish I had gotten there earlier and had more money on me cuz he had like 3 big plastic tubs full of these slabs. There was a price tag on the tubs of $2/ea, but the guy said make a pile and we'll see about the price. You're right RS, that is Guadalupe poppy jasper and about the only place to find it these days is at estate sales. Man I grabbed that and was going to give him my $2 just for that. I don't know how I missed seeing anything about this sale. The guy said it was advertised on the internet.
Our rockhounding went pretty good too. I will post pics of what I got and maybe Cal will post his load too. No blue agate this time, but lots of the grey/black/white jasper. His 2 little ones are really into this rockhounding thing. And above all, it was a beautiful Calif winter day.

Ed, great score! Boy, now I wish you had answered the phone while I was there LOL! I mentioned to Ed that I NEVER answer the phone at home. But, then again, I never get phone calls about estate sales with rocks for sale. Thanks for showing me the spot to hunt rocks nearby! Cal

I have to ask: What were you thinking going to an estate sale with only $2 on your person???
Good deal though - think of what you coulda gotten if you had a little more $$ on hand!

Hey Cal, I wish I would have answered the phone now. We both could have scored big time. I thought of stopping by the bank on my way over there, but I would have gotten there too late if I did. I figured if I needed to, I could go to a bank around the corner and get some more cash. Oh well, I'm still happy with what I got for $2-the piece of poppy jasper is worth more than that by itself.
