agatewhisperer Very pretty!👍I bought myself some leopard skin a while back but haven’t played with it yet. By your comments it sounds like it can be soft or inconsistent in hardness?

I don't have a lot of experience with it but I've vowed to never try to groove cut the side ever again. I ruined three cabs doing that with chunks breaking off. It seems like when it breaks, a chunk comes off. Mine might be a little lower quality ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is not my entry. But here is the monstrosity I was trying to pull off. I wanted to make a cab that looked like a picture scape with flowers in the foreground. This looks like a bird crapped on my cab lol. Among other things that worked out wrong with this cab. Being one to not be bested, I did however manage to figure out how to pull this off and make a cab like this that will work. But since i'm busy planning on doing some hounding this week, it'll have to wait until another time and i'll be submitting something else. But without further ado..... here is the first hunk of crap I cut. Dare to be different, even if it makes you look like crap haha

realrockhound That’s a pretty great idea actually! I’m impressed.👍 So the plume, did you happen to have a piece with a really large area of clear around the plume, so it’s a full doublet, or did this require different steps? Like I said I think it’s a great idea. Maybe next try could be with a multi-colored plume so your brain doesn’t instantly see bird crap, though I actually didn’t until you said it. Keep in mind though that birds eat berries so….

I have it figured out now, I also have clearer host with plume and have played around with it to determine it’ll work splendidly. Next cab I make will be with a different type of picture jasper. Should come out top notch.

Adding on - this rock looks nothing like the chrysanthemum stone that google shares. I only know the tag that came with it called it this. Also the rough is the not part that I cabbed - it's what was left over. I didn't realize I needed an image of that too

Okay so I thought this looked floral-ish on the slab. (Rhodonite I think? It was in a slab box I got from <'))))>< Fish ) Not sure I met its potential, but what a fun way to spend a sunny afternoon! I've seriously got to take photography lessons from some of you guys - I couldn't hardly get a shot that didn't feature a reflection of my lime green workshop shirt.

Ok, here goes. This is the end result of a three-attempt entry. Rough stone, finished cab and girdle shot. I'm told this is chrysanthemum stone and it came from a rock store in Anchorage AK. Thanks for looking. Nice one. You’re definitely getting better. You have a nice crisp girdle, no scratches.

Very pretty RocKingRuralMo ! I like a nice clean rhodonite, where the pink is nice and clear and the black edges are crisp. Some of it can be muddy colored. That’s a nice one.

agatewhisperer I really like this one. Nice piece of leopard. rocknewb101 nice cab! I don't know if it's chrysanthemum or not but definitely fits the theme as it totally looks like a flower. Another contender! RocKingRuralMo this is a really nicely ground cab and I love the rhodonite with all the black. I don't see that many without some of the brown stuff.

Here's my entry. Guadalupe Poppy JasperThe piece I cut this from was essentially this shape, so the pre form you see on dop was after some slight tuning. Was not sure how this material was going to turn out, was actually surprised of how high of a polish I got on it. Really gets bright under the light haha. entry photos. Those are healed fractures

Hey rocknewb101, I'm still learning these materials too. I just saw a piece of B.C. flowerstone for sale on Ebay and it looks just like your material.

Thanks for looking. Nice one. You’re definitely getting better. You have a nice crisp girdle, no scratches. Thank you!! This material was somewhat trickier than I expected as it kept wanting to undercut - but all in all I'm happy with how it turned out It looks really good rocknewb101 ! And you are on a flat lap right? Thanks!! I use a slant lap - same concept, but slanted not flat Hey rocknewb101 , I'm still learning these materials too. I just saw a piece of B.C. flowerstone for sale on Ebay and it looks just like your material. Thanks so much! I looked that up and you're correct - it does look quite similar!
