It's my turn to pick... finish a wrap inspired by SUMMER. Could be the color of the material or the scene/pattern in it or the wrap itself -- anything that reminds YOU of summer. But, you have to tell us your inspiration.
Remember- this is just a challenge - not a competition. So have fun!
I'm going to try. I'm committed to submitting some jewelry to an SOS auction at the end of the month, and if I can find something suitable that can also go to the auction, I'm in!

I picked some that might fill the bill.
Cacoxenite, Turkish blue lace onyx, apatite, ruby in fuchsite and rhodonite. Each reminds me of summer in some way. The cacoxenite has golden rays like the sun, the onyx reminds me of high clouds and "chem trails" on a sunny day, the apatite is an exaggerated blue on a hot day, RIF reminds me of wild flower meadows in early summer and the rhodolite is reminds me of heat.
I've been looking through my slabs & can't seem to come up with just the right blue. I mean I want Larimar for summer sky, but I don't think I can afford that sky, sigh....

Well, I finished it. It's tumbling now. I used the cacoxenite. It's extremely flashy and bright. BUT, I think it was tumble polished. It was the most difficult wrap I've done in a long time just because of the tumbling, the slipperiness and size. I wrapped it in silver and added gold beads.

I think I will need to try to get a video of this to explain why this reminds me of summer. I haven't had any luck with videos. jasoninsd I think you have posting them using cloudinary- how did you do it?
Anyway, this is big cacoxenite. There is some amethyst in it, but not much. The blades of cacoxenite are very directional and flashy. They remind me of sun rays splashing on the ground after weaving in and out of a leafy tree branch. I wrapped it in silver, but added gold beads in keeping with the sunny motif.
I am listing first but I will pass on the Challenge decision for July to the second person to list.
I took the video with my phone...then I opened up the forum (desktop view) on my phone. Then I just added the movie file like I do pictures when I'm adding them with Cloudinary. I'm pretty sure there's a time limit on the videos when you post them that way...so you might want to keep the video(s) short.

I'm watching Alone...just took a 9 second video and am trying to post it like I described. It was a 23mb video.

But if I understood what I read, it's often found with Amethyst
But when I googled it, boy I found lots of fun facts, like this one,
"Cacoxenite is a mineral for bringing good to one’s life. It encourages one to see the positive, beneficial and constructive forces in all events and situations, and to use discretion based on wisdom and discernment. "
What's not to like about that I think you should wear it all summer !

The beads are 14 gold filled. They are plenty durable to tumble. I used to use it exclusively for wrapping when I started and it was cheap as hell. I actually prefer working with it over silver and copper.
When cacoxenite is found with other minerals it is called Melody Stone and highly coveted by the New Agers. You can see a little amethyst in this, but nothing else, so technically it's just cacoxenite.

I'm with you on the cacoxenite. "Melody Stone" does have that new age ring to it. Sometimes they even call it "Super 7" but I'm not sure what the differences are except that Super 7 has 7 different minerals in it.
