Dang jasoninsd, way to come out swinging for the fences and get this party started with a jaw dropping cab!! Excellent material, shape and shine! I'm digging the macro shots too, very unique banding in that beauty!

jasoninsd That’s gorgeous. I can’t believe you just found that laying around. Pretty shape too and it looks like you did a good job of avoiding the fracture. I think the high dome is nice for a change.👍 Thanks! No...it wasn't just "laying around". Teepee Canyon Agates are in nodules within a bedrock layer out here in the Black Hills. You actually have to "mine" for them a lot of times. Sometimes you do get lucky and find some nodules that broke out on their own. Here's a thread a created awhile back...which has a TON of eye-candy...and since I created it, there's a lot of jabberjaw posts in there too! LOL - It's a long thread...so good for a "bathroom read"! LOL EDIT - I forgot to add the link! LOL forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/95452/teepee-canyon-agates-show-mineWow! That is just a spectacular cab jasoninsd ! I knew there would be some nice stuff this month but my expectations have already been exceeded. Thanks Gary! I got antsy to get back on the wheels when I saw you were getting a new machine! Basically, you gave me the itch again! (Which, if taken out of context REALLY sounds weird! LOL) Damn…That’s a beautiful cab jasoninsd But mark my words, I’m coming for that win 😂 Thank you my friend! I had to pull out the big guns since I know what kind of material you can pull out of your....ummm...hat! LOL Dang jasoninsd , way to come out swinging for the fences and get this party started with a jaw dropping cab!! Excellent material, shape and shine! I'm digging the macro shots too, very unique banding in that beauty! Thanks GF!! That banding is SICK when you see it in person! It definitely gives a 3-D type effect to that banding! That "micro-crystalline" type structure is absolutely surreal!!

Dammit J, I was just contemplating what I could use if any, and I see your entry.
Maybe they'll have a kids table left for me lol
Beautiful entry, glad to see you take the chance on one of your prize finds.

Gorgeous cab jasoninsd Way to get it rolling! Thank you Tommy! I pondered using a Fairburn Signer, or a couple different Prairie Agates I've found lately...but I figured there'd be some killer "finds" brought out of the woodwork, so I had to go with old trusty! LOL

LOL My problem is when I was actively hounding I was also obsessively cutting and cabbing the best of the best pieces as soon as I got home which has left me with surprisingly little to work with. I'll find something but I doubt it will get me more than a participation ribbon

LOL When I'd get a piece of rough, I'd slice up the whole thing...then cherry pick the best of the best to cab it...and now all I have are "ok" pieces of most stuff! Every once in awhile I'll find a little morsel of goodness I missed the first or second go around! LOL

Thank you SO much!! I did take those with my cell phone...with a loupe over the lens! LOL - I zoom to 2.5x-2.9x, hold the loupe over the lens(es), then hold my breath while trying to hold the camera still! LOL

I think I've got mine ready. Just trying to decide which one. Funny, I'm not near as anxious to post it now that jasoninsd has!

Amazing. Patterns, colors, shine and that shape! I need to up my game lol...Circles and ovals just don't cut it anymore . Very well done! Thanks Peta! Here's where I'm going to throw out some food for thought: Let's use gymnastics as an example. If one person does a triple backflip, but stumbles on the landing, is it really any better that someone else who does a single backflip, but executes it perfectly and lands it perfectly? A circle or an oval is easier to dome than the shape that I did. The shape I did is way harder not to dip the girdle on any of the "corners"...especially on the inside swoops. However, I have a LOT of room for error when working the shape of my piece versus working the shape of a circle or an oval. There's absolute precision required when shaping the circle or oval...if they're off even the slightest, it's noticeable. A circle can be made "perfectly" round using a drill...but when someone can do a circle by hand and have no noticeable skews in the circumference, that's something special. Same kind of deal with an oval. I guess that was my way of saying a shape like mine is a different kind of difficult...but so is a "perfect" circle or oval...so they can definitely be contenders and jaw-droppers!! That is a really beautiful jasoninsd !! Love the close up pictures too! Thanks Ashley! I actually had no clue that banding had that micro-crystal structure like it did until I saw it under the loupe! Talk about otherworldly!! I think I've got mine ready. Just trying to decide which one. Funny, I'm not near as anxious to post it now that jasoninsd has! Do you want me to delete mine and repost on the 31st? LOL
