I am going to attempt to do some over the summer ( i Know we don't have summer here) holidays. Now I am already starting with a disadvantage since a main mineralogist in Trinidad already said the findings will be crap, but you know I gotta at least try. I will link a few articles dealing with out geology and if you spot something that I should look out for please let me know. Of course If I find anything in the adventures I will let you all know. linklink

I made it a mission to wherever I visit in the western hemisphere to look for hummingbirds. A mini rock hunt may happen on the 23rd July. maybe. Weather permitting

Trinidad's nickname is "Land of the Hummingbird." The cruise ship I took from NYC to Uruguay in 1957 stopped there, but all I saw were steel band drums and people dancing the Limbo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrinidadSo you should be able to find metamorphic rocks. We are excited to see your results!

In Texas there is a thick layer of blue clay filled with Exogyra - Rams Horn shells all coated with tiny pyrite crystals. Pyrite is FeS, breaks down into sulfuric acid. The Incas used it between the huge boulders of their walls to melt the rocks together in perfect fits.

In Trinidad, the complications of rockhounding is solely crime. Was chatting with the misses, and we will have to invite some people who will be willing to go. Safety in numbers.
Crime in my country is heartbreaking

So here is something interesting There is a pooja store (sells supplies for Hindu events) they have a decent collection of "healing crystals and geodes and minerals. I met the wife of the owner and she told me they go to mineral shows to pick up their pieces. That's a source of local stuff, but I think until I go to one myself, it time to dive into ebay. Here is an elephant carved from agate
