That is incredible, it doesn't even look real, it looks like something I have seen made out of paint or polymer clay. Tami

Wowser! That hunk is yeilding some colorful slabs. It never ceases to amaze me when I see come of the blazing color combinations in poppy jasper from the Morgan Hill area. Those pieces look pretty solid too which is very kewl as that material is commonly very fractured...mel

Damn San Andreas Faultline. Out here in Calif Rock and Roll takes on a whole new meaning. Shhh! I didn't say anything. A lot of stress was releived in 1989 on that fault.

Stoner: *L* Curse than dern fault anyway! Man it fouls up a lot of good rocks in the coast range of mountains. Lots of the fine Stone Canyon Jasper is fractured too but then Parkfield, Calif actually has a monument saying it's the earthquake capitol of California. In that area that's saying something cause they're rocking and rolling all the time. The cafe in Parkfield even has chains and branding irons hanging from the ceiling so like the spurs..they jingle jangle jingle during the quakes! *L*
Sands: We have a technique for cabbing Morgan Hill Jasper out here. We slab it then drop it on soft ground. Then we cab the parts that don't break *L* Still hands down one of the prettiest jaspers in the nation and well worth working around any problem areas...mel

Get some of those earring studs with a flat round metal front for gluing on a stone, and use a 1/4" core drill and cut out a bunch of circles 1/8" thick, glue them onto a 1/4" dowel(or golf tee), polish them up and glue those to the earring blanks. I'll post pics of the earring blanks if ya want to see what they look like. I bought them at Micheals.

Ahhh, so it's the fault's fault! I didn't realize but I guess that makes sense that lots of rocks in the area would be fractured . Our place in the mountains is approximately 70' from the San Andreas Fault, when that thing finally lets go I figure I'll be swallowed up into the earth and come back as a rock myself. Yeah, that's it, Laura Jasper!!!!
