Okay...so nothing like leaving things until the 12th hour! LOL When I originally presented the contest theme to Tommy, I said autumn with a faceted dome. Tommy talked me out of that! LOL So...I didn't have a chance to look for any autumn "colors"...so I'm going with a cab that reminds me of autumn. Every year in August we have the Central State Fair here in town. And of course you can't have a fair without cotton candy. So, my entry is Cotton Candy Agate...which always reminds me that summer is ending and autumn is about to begin. Probably one of my best memories of the fair was when I entered a cabin made out of popsicle sticks into the arts and crafts section. (No, it wasn't last year...it was when I was around 10 years old. LOL) I got a purple ribbon. And to celebrate (with the permission of my folks!), I set it on fire in the back yard..and took some cool pics...which I still have somewhere! LOL

Ok, here's my last minute entry. I'm not sure what this is but it's really pretty material and I think has great fall colors. I'd definitely like to play around with more of it. I got it from drocknut Diane, do you know what this one is? The 2nd and 3rd pics are for the contest. I thought I'd also show a back-lit one because it's just so cool and also the back because there's area's of red that were unfortunately lost on the front. For my summertime memory..... well, I work so much during the summers and have for the last twenty years or so, that I don't really get much time to create 'summer memories'. I am pretty easily pleased though and really enjoy just having the presence of mildly warm weather and being able to sit out on our deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watching the trees rustling in the breeze along with all the happy little birds flitting about in the warm sunshine. The occasional scolding from the little buzz-buzz-bomber hummingbirds gives me some company and additional entertainment. :-) Beautiful cab! I'm fairly certain it's plasma agate. The brown/orange fibrous look and especially the red dot (cinnabar) in the black area are the tells. This is a more typical looking plasma agate than what we used in the benefit contest.

Tommy Ok, very interesting. I also was narrowing in on that red dot. I had also seen it in the mohs contest material and just thought it was really weird that I had two materials in the same month with it. I had no idea. The only two cabs I made this month! That’s a fun coincidence!👍👍

Lots of memories made this summer. Over the course of three months we traveled over 8k miles around this marvelous country. Part of our trip included the entire length of the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez, plus the relatively nearby battlefields of Shiloh and Vicksburg. So much history. And so many trees. I present to you a golden tree in a seam agate. So many fantastic entries! Is that Carey plume?

Sorry, I do not know where this agate is from. I obtained it from an estate. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable recognizes it?

Thanks and congrats to everyone who entered. There were some really nice cabs. Now lets see what turns up for Halloween! I've got an easier idea for Nov.
