Thanks to my grandpa and direction from my dad, I set out early this morning to rediscover a spot they found over 30 years ago. My dad and I tried to re-locate the spot a few years ago but failed. The hike in and out sucks. On my way back out I spotted a few flecks of float and followed the trail until I found the vein he described. Still untouched after all those years. Its a seam agate formed between rhyolite. I wouldn't say its an overly impressive material by any means, but its own deposit non the less. I feel like i've seen other material similar, but can put a name on it. I'll cab some soon and see how it looks. Thanks for looking. I enjoy sharing the finds. Rough Cut.

It looks a lot like a piece of bacon. Too bad the name "Sowbelly Agate" is already taken!! You could always go with "Porky Plume"!! Another nice find my friend!! I'm curious to see how the cabs come out.

I'm curious to see how the cabs come out. It almost kinda reminds me of like an oolite type of agate, but maybe that aint right. It does have some small plumes in it, but its like they are just too clustered and couldn't take off. My dad wants me to take him back in and show him exactly where they found it years ago. I'm going to try to get the rest out regardless.

How about a picture in the field - would be cool to see.

Nice! It's got to be satisfying to find that after looking for so long. I'll be interested to see it sliced and slabbed. I like the way it looks so far.

How cool to find that place again! I’ll bet it was a rewarding feeling. I agree with jasoninsd , your rock looks like a piece of bacon. Lol It’ll be interesting to see what you do with it. Thanks for sharing!

Got's a bit of confetti in it, maybe it'll show more color deeper down? Ticker tape?

Nice! It's got to be satisfying to find that after looking for so long. I'll be interested to see it sliced and slabbed. I like the way it looks so far. Very rewarding. Like I mentioned previously, my dad and grandpa had discovered it over 30 years ago. My dad made mention to me a few years back that we should go mine it out. Searched and searched but just couldn’t find it.

Nice. I think you ought to name it after yourself. When you read these back to back it's hilarious!

A nice result from the slab. I bet it looks better than the picture. 3d is better than 2d.

Not with this stuff. It has some transparency, but it’s way too milky
