See the entire contest thread here for more information. Maybe I'm the only one, Tommy, but they don't seem to jive.

Maybe I'm the only one, Tommy, but they don't seem to jive. I don't remember why I wrote the word "separately" after saying "the entire collection" - I probably just meant the auction would be separate from the contest thread. There were LOTS of little changes when putting together and launching the contest but the plan in my head and in subsequent conversations with the people handling the donation money was a single auction.

All, regarding the Mohs memorial bench fund, this is just FYI in case anyone is wondering.
Yes the bench has been paid for and ordered. Our desire was that we don't over-collect past the $5000 cost of the bench and the approximated revenue from selling the cabochon group (and now also the slabs) was factored in and donation auctions were paused until the cab contest came together. As it played out, we were still $220 short of our goal so a member who is involved in the fund raising efforts put up the money so we could proceed with ordering the bench. The revenue that these auctions generate will be used to square up with the member who bridged the gap and any excess will be used as best we can towards providing food for Tony's bbq or doing something nice for zoo staff who were really wonderful and helpful.

I love the fact the three hearts that were made, were all made with the same idea behind them...all three emulating Ed's "Rockin' Heart" made with two different materials! The fact all three picked spots on the slabs where that "effect" would come through puts a massive smile on my face!!

I made a heart too that didn't make the cut. I actually used two different looking places out of the slab and glued them together. It was coming along good but as I was grinding I accidentally hit the edge of the hard wheel instead of the soft wheel. I got the mark ground out but the dome was just too low at that point and it didn't look right.

Thankfully mine wasn't too deep and I was able to save it...

Congratulations Khara! Please send the $125 to Eva's PP address - same one we used for the contest buy-in.

Thanks again for bidding and your patience. Thanks for the update Tommy. I hope the "project house" is treating you well enough! I don't remember seeing any recent update pics on the property. How are things progressing? As far as being patient...I'm in no hurry. Those slabs will get tucked away. When I'm feeling like I'm starting to get this cabbing thing down pretty good, I'll bring one of those out to knock myself down a notch or two! LOL

Thanks for the note Tommy Same as Jason here, no worries. If you are exhausted or running behind there is no rush. It will be fun to see the cabs but I’m so busy, it will be a while before I decide what to do with them.
