I remember Aggies from my marble playing childhood, once punched a bully because he was stealing my little brothers marbles, only to find out he has legit won the game. Did keep the bullys away from both of us for a time though. I don't think the large shooters we had were ever stone, though from time to time I had a "steelie", a large ball bearing. I think the steelies came from the millwrights kids. This reminds me of the Peanuts special "He's a Bully Charlie Brown". In the 1990s, Charles Shultz heard about Rolley Hole and marble playing and he released a series of comic strips about the Peanuts kids playing marbles. Later an animated movie was made about it which has some very interesting characteristics. So, I must admit I did not grow up with Peanuts besides some 1950s comics from my dad and seeing the specials they air on TV. I never noticed until recently watching a special on tv (something about Charlie Brown being in a spelling bee) just how rough they were on Charlie. I knew he was always portrayed as a loser who was no good at anything, but the marbles special was a shift in that. I won't do a big summary here since I can't do it justice, but in the special, Charlie Brown beats a marble bulley in order to win back a marble belonging to Reruns grandpa. Now having Charlie win is interesting in itself, but the marble he wins back was kept in a little display dome which is what's important. The display dome can be seen here : www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcharliebrownspecials.blogspot.com%2F2014%2F08%2Fhes-bully-charlie-brown.html&psig=AOvVaw0LRyCzVOU4KxPkWfwZzFaQ&ust=1701841790791000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBIQjRxqFwoTCMjWj-3M94IDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAEI hate to send a massive link, but what makes it special is it's the only time that Shultz mentions a specific event and location like this. Now the inscription has some issues like Rolley Hole not being held at the park until 1983, but regardless the mention of Rolley Hole and Standing Stone is mighty important to us. It might be something fun for you to look into and watch.

That was most interesting about Charlie Brown & you're right, VERY out of content for him, on the most part.
It would be a fun one to actually watch.
VERY significant that the winners plaque quotes you guys.
At that rate, I'm almost surprised you don't have the kids corner at the park showing the Charlie Brown Special !
Links:
If you look at the bar above your post ( with the font stuff, etc), there is one button that you can put a link, by highlighting one word, or group of words.
For Cloudinary, I know other people mention dragging & dropping, for me I upload my photo into Cloudinary (on their site), and then get the link on their site and use the above button to insert the image. It works great, but takes an extra step.
Hope this helps,
Patty

I will have to mess with it more. I think I might have to link google drive photos, which I have to do on a couple forums. There's another app I used to use but for the life of me I can't remember. We never did show the Charlie Brown Special when I worked there. We don't really have a place to keep it running like some parks do. Other parks I've worked at had nature centers and visitor centers with fancier setups. The main reason I would say though, is park attendance is low. Very low. Getting kids to show up for marbles is like pulling teeth. Marbles can also be frustrating as well so many people just hang it up after a few minutes. Besides that, if I can get them to play marbles, and they actually hit marbles, then they don't want to leave. There's been some intense competition out here among families and groups of visitors. My main demographic, especially for Rolley Hole, are adults age 40+ especially the retired crowd who have interest in the folklore and such around Rolley Hole. This year was a boom for us in that regard since people were showing up left and right asking about Rolley Hole. It sure did make us happy to have all sorts of people coming to see the yard, and it made guests happy when one of us was able to set something up impromptu and really give them the rundown. It covers such diverse areas since we have history, gameplay, lore, geology, etc. No other park has anything like it.
