I have done a few attempts and with the limit supply of wires in terms of thickness I will work around this to see what I can do. Its fascinating and with my chunky fingers its been some perspiration involved. I got some interesting rocks. Not sure what I will be doing, but I did try a christmas themed one as a gift for my wife Here is the lineup: Rough amethyst, Botswana agate, Amethyst heart, 2 more botswana agate I took a red, gold and green wire and twisted them together and followed a wirewrap YouTube video on an Amethyst heart The one I want to work on, but not sure where to go with:

Looks like you're off to a great start! Nothing like a handmade gift.

Looks like you're off to a great start! Nothing like a handmade gift. I've got really big hand but fat stubby fingers. Plus a little arthritis just to make it more interesting.

My dad's fingers had a lot of bends and angles that fingers shouldn't have!

Great start! I agree- a handmade gift is the best.
I have psoriatic arthritis, too. It has spared my hands for the most part. I have it in my hips and back. But, I'm trying to wrap 4mm crystals right now and having a time!

Oh, the pain of starting with rough and/or tumbled rock! Even after doing this for 10+ years working stones like you are starting out with would not be easy for me. I'm impressed with the heart that you created--it's pretty, it looks secure, and it's wearable. You've picked a rough way to start but mastering these will make cabochons very easy for you.

The rough rock is actually pretty easy to work with. It's got grip I can't tell you how many times the heart yeeted itself with a mere slip of the finger. Noooowww I understand why mainly hard rocks, scratch resistant rocks are used.

wargrafix rockjunquie it looks like your arthritis is different than the osteoarthritis that I was experiencing about 10 yers ago ish. What really helped me was gelatin powder added to my coffee, having one as I type in fact. Mine had started in my thumbs and was quite painful, now I have to abuse my hands pretty severely to get them to hurt. Wrapping tumbles is indeed tricky.

I know Amethyst polishes very well. I'm not too sure about the stalactite being robust. I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of these!!

The faces will polish, but jesus h christ, the surface is very resistant. The slices were not done well and the saw marks will not flatten easily

Trying to get those saw marks out is going to be a labor of love!! (Emphasis on "labor"! ) I went out about 11:30 last night. Wind was blowing and it was COLD! I did stay out for about 20 minutes before I didn't want to freeze any more. I saw 15-20 before I came back in. I ended it on a good one!

Now all you need is to collect meteorites. ^_^ I was not prepared how hard that surface is. When I reach home I will take some pics and post in the rock theme thread

Those wraps look nice. You got a great start. Keep at it. I, too, have arthritis. Mine is osteoarthritis, and I have several fingers where the top joint now has bumps on them, and occasionally, they hurt. I'm not looking forward to it getting worse, but it will.

I know the science community is looking into the treatment and eventually solving of Athritis. Becuase as we get older our body goes into several forms of disrepair.
Its ok to like. Its a form of solidarity. We know that each here have a common love of the earth and the rocks are a unifying element.
I like non invasive wrapping, it acts almost as a cradle for the rocks and allow its beauty to show.
