Thanks stardiamond ! I ripped my facebook bandaid off and signed up with the group - looking forward to seeing (and maybe buying) some fun items! I am not a social media person. I don't collect friends. I had a spat with a FB seller who also sold on ebay. He misidentified a slab and I posted a correction. He banned me partially because my friend count was low. I signed up for FB a while ago trying to find some long, lost real friends. FB changed and has a lot of corporate advertising and merchandise for sale through interest groups. I usually don't use marketplace but will when I'm trying to buy something difficult find. I get directed to web sites that have what I am looking for. I stay far away from Craigslist. I have never had a bad experience or any experience but prefer to remain anonymous. For me it was the never ending politics. It became so toxic that my anxiety was always through the roof. Don't need that in my life - it's stressful enough. BUT, I think I can keep it to lapidary lol. I don't use Craigslist, but for a different reason. I used to be quite heavy in the dog rescue community and craigslist is notorious for their pet selling section without any oversight. many awful stories of tortured dogs and CL refused to remove the section. Some may think that's dumb, but I'll always advocate for critters and have no place for places like that. Anyways - thanks for the thoughts. I'm excited to see what there is at the next auction! |

FB feeds content based on previous visits. Since I usually only look at lapidary, I get a lot of lapidary content.

Children are about the only other ones I’ll advocate for. Same deal ya know |

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to see almost no politics from the usual suspects. I did mute a bunch of people that I don't need to see and hopefully that will continue. It is based somewhat on what those in your friend list post but the unfollow button keeps those posts hidden. |

I've not found the HPL customer service to be very good. They returned calls when they had a sale to make, but it's a bit harder if you want to talk to them afterwards. I've found they only wanted to talk to me when I was interested in buying a blade, but it took a ridiculous amount of effort to get a shipping price (was way beyond my budget) and they're STILL emailing me randomly about it. No thanks. |
