Here are some different styles of hooks. These all take quite a while to make. It cuts into my rock time.

About how big are those? And is it steel? They look so bright and shiny. Anyway, fun stuff. I’ve played around a tiny bit with blacksmithing and enjoyed it.👍

Brent these are awesome! That bead in the center of those two is a really nice touch. Your twists match perfectly as well 👍

I’ve played around a tiny bit with blacksmithing and enjoyed it.👍 For size reference, they’re sitting on top of a blue five gallon bucket. I really like blacksmithing. Thank goodness for YouTube videos. They are steel. All were made from 1/2” square by 8” long. Those not only look really nice, but look useful ! I bet they'd even hold up a bucket of rocks

Thanks Patty. They’re pretty strong alright. We use a lot of them for hanging plants, bird feeders and the like. Brent these are awesome! That bead in the center of those two is a really nice touch. Your twists match perfectly as well 👍 Thanks Nate. I filed the bead in. It took too long to be worth the effort. I like the look of them though. Those are beautiful! Really nice! Thanks Dillon. Brent, you've become a master at these hooks. They are beautiful and I love the different designs you're doing! Thanks Robin. I don’t know about master but it is fun to try different styles.

Brent, I don't want to say you're a "master hooker"...because that would sound just a little off! LOL Those are spectacular my friend!

I love how such utilitarian items can be so beautiful. Your skill is showing, Sir!

Brent, I don't want to say you're a "master hooker"...because that would sound just a little off! LOL Those are spectacular my friend! Thanks Jason. One of my friends told a lady that I’m a forger. I told her she should see my $100 bills. I love how such utilitarian items can be so beautiful. Your skill is showing, Sir! Thank you Tela. I’m still trying to get better at smithing. It is really fun. The s-hooks get used a lot around here.

Here are a few more s-hooks. I’ve been trying to reduce the time it takes to complete them. I’m not making the ones with the round bead in the middle anymore. It takes too long to file out. I need to figure a way to forge the bead in. I really like the one with the small hole in the middle. The hole was punched, not drilled. That one and the one with the twist were the easiest to make. I got a bunch of cutoff pieces of 1/2” x 8” square rod. The ones in progress will have the ends drawn out like all the rest. I’ll try to twist the little cubes to different alignment like a Rubik’s cube.

My first try at a paper towel roll holder, plus a few more s-hooks.

How does the paper towel hang ? I think there's a bump out of the upper bar ?
Looking good

Thanks Patty liveoak The bumps are where I punched the mounting holes instead of drilling. The punch makes a little slug when it goes through and it bulges the steel somewhat. No power tools were used. It’s all anvil and hammer work, (except the twisting).

Very cool ! Thanks for explaining Brent. I like that you didn't use any power tools, only the anvil & hammer. Patty

Great job on those...the paper towel holder especially! I really like the directionally opposing twists!

There’s a new anvil heading my way. I’m pretty excited to see it. Shipping anvils is expensive. It’s around 260 lbs. From the website Packaged for shipping and on the truck yesterday. She’s a heavy bugger.
