Well here is a weird observation. At one point I got 14,000 and 50,000 grit Nova wheels mostly to do Petoskey Stones. The 14,000 grit wheel was very similar in softness and the little peaks of material as all the other Nova wheels. However, the 50,000 grit wheel was almost a flat surface and was noticably harder material than the others. It was still flexible because of the foam underneath but definitely looked like a different material (epoxy). However, I just looked on the KN site and DP sites and the 50,000 grit wheels look pretty much the same as the other grits. You might see a little smoother on the 50K on DPs site but not much different. It didn't look like my wheel had been worn down when I got it, just a harder material. Maybe it was a manufacturing mistake. But still works good. ??

I forgot to add that after reading all the comments about hard epoxy, I will probably stick with getting it done by others. But will wait with "hook on tongue" for the video of someone doing it on soft resin wheels with the padding and may try later. But don't know why it would be different than the soft wheels shown on the earlier videos. Most times when I think "how hard can it be", it is way harder than I thought.
