I was pretty pleased to get a bunch of cabs done the other day.
I think it's the most I've ever done in one day.
If I wasn't so anal, that I also polish the backs (which added a whole other afternoon) I would have been skipping. But I needed more cabs to wrap - so I'm happy they are done.
Amazonite, Dendritic Agate, Al. Petrified wood, Gary Green Jasper, and another "Jimite"
Thanks for looking,
Patty

They all look great! I am going to go with the Amazonite as my favorite just because I like what really catches my eye first and that one did it.

Thanks everyone - looks like Amazonite is the hands down favorite. Not sure where it's from, a slab I purchased some time ago. I was feeling partial to the Al Pet wood, mostly because that piece looks a lot different from most of what I have - that, and I collected it. Thanks for looking, Patty

Those are beauties. I for one appreciate when a cab is polished on the back. I think it gives it a more finished look especially for wire wraps.

Gorgeous! Loving the dendritic agate - looks like a piece of flowered porcelain. They are all lovely!

I'm always surprised how few people polish the back.
OTOH it certainly takes extra time.
But as you say, on a wire wrap, I think it's appreciated and adds value to the wrap itself

The back as a little clear spot in it, so I now need to figure out a wrap that shows it off.

Those are nice! I also like a polished back for the wire wraps or the window backed silver settings. I at least do a semi gloss polish on my cabber. Thinking of having my flat lap set up to do a better job. Which do you use for your backs?

I set myself up with a complete range to grind & polish.
I also have a flat lap, but it's not as convenient and located on my outdoor bench. But either way, the flap laps keep the stone flat.
Beautiful cabs, liveoak Patti! Gotta love the Amazonite, but that Jimite is pretty dang awesome, too. Thanks, Robin The fun part about the Jimite, is every piece is different. Cool stuff.

Looks great! I think the Jimite is my favorite. The color in the green Jasper is so deep - love that too.

Ah, thanks liveoak . Yes, I've wanted to do this as well but unfortunately have had trouble finding the left side spin on wheel for my Kingsley North. I need to contact them and just haven't been able to during the day. The disk is actually sitting on my desk. Been meaning to do this for a couple months.

I'm looking forward to wire wrapping them. Looks great! I think the Jimite is my favorite. The color in the green Jasper is so deep - love that too. Thanks, Chris, yeah the Jimite is colorful stuff.
The Gary Green Jasper is what got me going on this batch of cabs-the deep green is crying to be complimented with copper.
Thanks for looking,
Patty

When I was buying them, khara, Johnson Brothers also said they could get them, but they had to order them, so not available right away.

I find that's one of the fun things about cabbing, watching the colors & patterns develop & shine (if you're lucky)
