There's a massive storm coming through California so the sale that I was scheduled for today was canceled. I took some time last night to do a couple of wraps and then this morning to finish them and patina a few others that I had done. San Carlos Agate Jaspagate from S Cady, Lavic area. Hornitos Poppy Jasper Crazy Lace Agate Stone Canyon Jasper tumble. Crazy Lace Agate with a little variation on the hammered frame. Obsidian with Sterling Silver. Reminds me of the Star Trek logo! I ground this one a long time ago and have gone back to it a few times trying to figure out how to wrap it. I really need to take some time and polish the top of my Harbor Freight anvil. I want to get a little bit heavier gauge silver to do some more like the last one but I feel like the silver should be smooth and that's impossible to pull off with a rough anvil surface. I watched a guy a Quartzite, I believe his boot was "The Michigan Hippie Garden. His anvil was an axe stuck in a log with the handle cut off short. The face of the axe was highly polished. He was doing some wraps kind of like my last one that were gorgeous. I said something about all the sanding he must do on the pieces and he gave me a little demo showing me how smooth he could pound them.

Wow rockbrain I really like these. You have developed a really unique style in a very short amount of time. It’s very cool. 👍

The wrappings and stones are great! And not a single stone is hidden by the wrapping.

Thanks so much Khara. I'm really happy with the hammered frame style. I like it and I feel like it's mine. I still like the style like the first San Carlos agate wrap but it just looks a bit too much like Oxana from the Youtube videos where I got almost all of my "instruction" until I read Tela's book.

I realized it's difficult to tell anything about the size of these, so here's another shot of the group. When I did the group shot I also realized I forgot to post one.

These are so beautiful! My favorite is this one: From a distance it looks a serene night, with the moon behind the tree branches. Then I realized there are two moons

Awesome wraps, rockbrain! They are very unique and I would call the hammered ones "your style", too. Kudos! You have a really good eye for design and a great imagination to go with it.

I do like this style from you rockbrain the rocks work with the worn style. Nice job Thanks! I appreciate it. These are so beautiful! My favorite is this one: From a distance it looks a serene night, with the moon behind the tree branches. Then I realized there are two moons Thanks! I like your description. Every time I look at that cab I see "Two over easy!" I still have mixed feelings on that wrap. It got a lot busier than I intended when I started. You are certainly talented. Very nice work. Thanks Thomas! It's nice to have people appreciate them. Awesome wraps, rockbrain ! They are very unique and I would call the hammered ones "your style", too. Kudos! You have a really good eye for design and a great imagination to go with it. Thanks Robin! You're making me blush!

Wow! Well done! I second what Robin said. I like them all. On the crazy lace frame, did you have to anneal it after flattening? I tried this method about 6 months ago, but the flattened wire (3 wire braid) kept breaking on me. I tried annealing, but I must've been doing something wrong.

Thanks mossyrockhound ! I'm pretty sure I annealed it after hammering it Garry. I anneal these a few times throughout the process. I just hold it with a pair of pliers, hit it with a propane torch Until I get a color change and then dip it in a bowl of water to cool it.

I almost think these two are my favorites. I like complete frames, and I like the addition of decorations on complete frames. But these ones strike me as engineered. They are held in just a few places and yet hang straight. They are also held with strips of metal which adds to the industrial style of something engineered. And the simplicity allows the rocks to stand out. By the way rockbrain , your avatar cracks me up. You used to be such a cute little puppy.

Boy, you got busy in a hurry, Gary ! All really nice, I think your first more traditional wrap is nice, the twisted wire added a nice interest.
And the beads with your top swirl made me think of planets.
But the hammer pieces are indeed much more unique & nicer.
I particularly like Crazy Lace with the twisted & hammered frame.
Question - at first glance, you'd think that the binding wires became the wires that hold the cab to the outer frame.
But in a couple of cases, that wire is much heavier - how are you attaching it ? Tucking it under the binding ? Or is there some hidden detail on the back we don't know about ?

It's always good to hear what someone likes or doesn't like and why. Funny about these seeming more engineered, they are definitely the most seat of the pants design. They are really quick to do to. I almost feel like I'm cheating! I'm still not totally satisfied with the way the bail ties in but I'm working on it. The avatar is from my mostly annual Halloween camping trip last October. Thanks Dillon! Boy, you got busy in a hurry, Gary ! All really nice, I think your first more traditional wrap is nice, the twisted wire added a nice interest.

Thanks Patty! I've thought about adding some swirls to the hammered ones but just don't think it would look right. I know you like to see the backs, I'll post a pic in while. Nothing hidden back there. I just bind an extra short piece of wire to the frame. I usually use square for this but I think I'll try some round. Sometimes it's hard to get the square wrapped around the hammered frame without twisting and I end up mangling them. That's probably why some look larger. The wrap for the challenge this month I did different. I actually on brought two of the frame wires to the top to tie together. One frame wire ends at the bottom where it's bound and the other ends near the top but doesn't tie in it's just bound to the frame. Those frame wires were left long and tie it to the hammered frame. It was a pain to do and was a big part of my alignment issues with that one. I've also left the binding long and tied the wrap to the hammer frames with it but it never wants to sit flat as the binding wire comes under the frame on one end and over the frame on the other end.

I love seeing your work and the evolution of your style. I think your own personal style easily outshines the "Oxana" style. I don't really have a favorite, I like them all. You do very nice work and I'm super stoked you took the book for what it was meant to be.

Thanks Tela! That means a lot coming from you. The book has helped me a lot. I was stoked to get it and I think it's time to read through it again. I think it will continue to be a valuable tool as I progress.

Thank you, Gary, Clean & nice. Seeing the backs helps (me anyway) understand how the wraps are put together. I'm still trying to learn what's possible (and looks good). Thanks for the help.
