Thanks all for the feedback and things to ponder. Maybe I'll just set up the dremel and give a go at hand polishing. I have both the end piece that fits in the dremel with velcro backing (or drill) and about 2" diameter grit/polish pads that are also velcroed. May also set up my slant lap again and see what I can do with it. Warmer weather is a'comin'!!

Dp now sells a magnetic master lap that you use as an end plate on a genie/cabking/kn6. They also sell magnetic nova discs that don't have the foam backing.

I invested in this setup and am still in the process of breaking the discs in. It seems like it will work wonderfully for face polishing agates/thundereggs or just polishing up cool slabs.
