Woohoo! That's 13 entries by my count. And some really nice ones too. Plus we still have a whole day to go. Way to go everyone!

There are some fantastic entries. I'm pretty jealous of all the different rocks everyone had to work with! I'm glad I was able to join in on this one.

I have an entry I'd like to make tomorrow morning, if possible. It's sitting in acetone overnight as it's being very stubborn. Will clean it up and post pics ASAP.

I've been MIA the last few contests but couldn't miss out on this great theme. I cut this one a week ago when it looked like it might have been a contender, but man now it's a stacked line up of killer cabs this month! I just finally got around to polishing it this evening. It's a Swazi agate I picked up in Quartzsite. It's the first time I've worked Swazi and surprisingly it gave a really dull matte finish off the 3000 wheel. Way different than most agates. But the good ol cerium oxide on felt made it shine up just dandy. Not too sure what that's all about. I forgot to take a pic of the preform but this is the nodule the slab came from After the small turnout last month it's great to see everyone come out swinging for the fences this month. I'm completely blown away by every one of the entries! There is some serious tallent around here.

iamchris Do a placeholder pic tonight of the rough/slab at least. Then you can add final pics before Tommy does his collage.

Almost like itβs got a clear cap when viewed from side to front.

Contest is officially closed! Thank you agatewhisperer for a great theme and everyone for partipating and turning it into a fantastic display of eye candy. I can hardly wait to see the group collage and which piece of art emerges as the winner ... but I'm away from my computer until tomorrow night so I guess we all have to wait

I didn't realize in the past that too close of cropping of the entry pics was an issue. I hope I did better this time!

Note to iamchris - sorry - I just read your hold-the-bus post in the contest so that obviously didn't end up well :/ (for everyone) The best way to make sure your entry gets in if you're working on a piece but running late and worrying if you'll meet the deadline, post a placeholder image(s) showing your work in progress piece. This way when I go in collecting photos I'll know there is another one coming and I can shoot you a note checking on progress before I launch the voting. Note - I can't promise that there will always be a little delay between the contest close date/time and the posting the voting poll, it's always my goal for there to not be a gap but it does occur.

I didn't realize in the past that too close of cropping of the entry pics was an issue. I hope I did better this time! What I do in creating the collage thumbnails is I follow the image URLs that were posted and take the largest originals and open them in Photoshop. I then crop the image square leaving as little space as I can around the stone before resizing it to 300x300 pixels. I've found the best photos for this process are already square-ish enough to allow me to create a square thumbnail.

This one is hard. There are at least four entries that I want to vote for.
