So...here's some cabs that I've done over the last couple of days. They're the first cabs I've done in months! As always...thanks for taking a gander!  Original Owyhee     Lemon Chrysoprase - Super Soft!!  Iris Agate - Sister slice to the cab I did for the contest a couple months back.   Fairburn Agate - Rejected contest entry for this months contest.  Crazy Lace Agate - 2nd place choice for this months contest...  |

jasoninsd Nicee!! Interestingly enough I just pulled a nice owyhee slab to the side to cab up and also just found a complete set of templates with all those shapes. Great minds think alike!!

Thanks Pat! I have about 20+ preforms dopped...that have been waiting for months! I have some more of the Original Owyhee rough...so I started with those as I knew if I messed those up, I'd have some material to replace them! LOL |

All very nice but I really like that last one.👍 I’m in a perpetual state of “out of dop sticks” whenever it’s time to do a contest cab. It seems I get a bunch to the shaped stage and don’t find more time to finish and then I’m down to the wire needing to get a contest option dopped. But, that means I have plenty of practice ready to go at a moments notice and this month I actually did get more practice in than just the one contest cab! Things are looking up.👍👍

I showed that last cab...along with the contest entry cab to six different people. Every one of them said I should submit the other one. I actually thought this one was cool with all the fine details going on. I got the chunk from The Rock Shed and was a little disappointed at first...then I started seeing all the fine details in the material. Now, it's one of my favorite pieces of Lace I've had! Okay...I'm glad I'm not the only one who has an excessive amount of "occupied" dops! LOL |

Rust? I don't see any rust- just some damn fine cabs. Loving the last one especially.
I know what you mean after being gone awhile. You do feel rusty. That muscle memory is gone and has to be rebuilt, which I'm working on myself. |

I tried several different backgrounds for the picture...and it really is more "neon" in real-life! I'm thinkin' you might be onto something with regards to getting kids into this! LOL They all look great but I keep looking at the Crazy Lace. Thanks Chris! I've zoomed in on the picture on my phone SO many times with that cab! There's SO much "micro" going on in that piece! |

Looks like you might have retained some vague recollection on how to do it. That lemon chrysoprase is so unique! Is that material usually so uniform in color? The crazy lace is beautiful. My favorite of the group! |

Yeah...that Lemon Chrysoprase is something else! I had two very nice slabs with a decent "clean" area to get this one and one other one (on dop). From what I've seen, it usually has a brown/gray "matrix" running through it. That Lace is definitely my favorite out of this group! At one point, I started peddling while making these...but then realized that wasn't necessary! LOL |
