It really is nice to just focus on cabs to clear your mind of work & life's annoyances ! I was able to get 5 cabs done on Saturday, which is a remarkable run, for me anyway. I'm enjoying experimenting with new varieties, that I hadn't tried to cut before, with a big Thank You to both Tela rockjunquie & Randy RWA3006 Picasso Jasper - love the sparkles inside McDermitt Thunder Egg - has a fascinating "pool" of floating flowers in the center Alabama Petrified Wood- interesting stuff with layers, the colors make me think of a creamsicle Mahogany Obsidian-very difficult to get a photo of this one Sodalite - no comment Thanks for looking Patty

Nice! And, you did so many! I know you were in the groove.
I love that TE!! Came out really nice. I happen to know it was likely a pretty thin slab, too.

Look great! I think I like the petrified wood the best. Thanks, Chris. That Pet wood is interesting stuff, lots of different colors.
I believe Jim jamesp said he thought it was quartzite displaced, rather than agatized. All nice and the Picasso is my fav. Thanks Randy, the sparkles in it were a surprise to me. Thanks Mike.
I think it was you going on about cabbing to relax, that got me going !
So thanks for the reminder All are great. Thunder is definitely a standout for me. Nice shine on it. Thank you. Thundereggs are neat & always interesting. Nice! And, you did so many! I know you were in the groove.

Thanks Tela !
I think I have to groove more often

I think I like the T egg best, but the Picasso is a close second. Actually the pet wood is pretty cool too. Such soothing peachy color!

All really great. The thunderegg is my fave.. Thanks, Rick, It looks like the thunderegg takes the day I think I like the T egg best, but the Picasso is a close second. Actually the pet wood is pretty cool too. Such soothing peachy color! Thanks, Gary.
The thing with the Al Pet wood that makes it extra special for me is I collected it.
And seeing as I've only gone rockhounding twice in my life, it's pretty significant !

Nice. I'm just starting to find some nice stuff and it's pretty special to work your own material.

Gorgeous liveoak! My thoughts... aren't worth much but here goes: Picasso Jasper - love the sparkles inside - Me too! Alabama Petrified Wood- interesting stuff with layers, the colors make me think of a creamsicle - It does look like a creamsicle! Delicious looking cab! Mahogany Obsidian-very difficult to get a photo of this one - But so shiny I can see myself in it! Gorgeous! Sodalite - no comment - I have a comment - I love it, and I'm impressed. I've always thought that Sodalite has pretty colors, but in slabs the surface is somewhat dull. You brought out a luster I didn't know sodalite could achieve. WOW You are a fantastic artist! Thank you for sharing your work! I really like seeing the materials finished. It's really a transformation! It is also beginning to deepen the way I look at slabs, so thank you for that as well.

Thank you, tribeunited for the thoughtful review. Gave me a smile on an otherwise annoying work day. With all the slabs I've seen you showing, I hope you're also planning to delve further into the lapidary arts, and try cabbing yourself. Patty

Then I'm glad I shared my novice opinions liveoak. As for the slabs, I'm not planning on cabbing anything! I'll keep some of my favorites and the rest... I'll leave the art to the artists!

I'm wondering if there's a local rock club that has a "work room" you could check out before you make that firm decision.

arm twisting and enabling! I'm being man handled! LOL liveoak, I also inherited the cabbing machines. My husband does play around on them, he likes that part a lot, but we have more material than any one person could cab! But you are truly gifted, I went on the website in your link and it was all gorgeous stuff! Your website design was nice too, very professional and clean!

If you already have a cabber unit, then you are WAY ahead of the curve.
For me, it took a number of frustrating years with a flat lap, before I was able to come up with the $ to splurge on one. It made all the difference.
I'm certain that most people on this forum would argue that you never have enough material.
Life is long & it makes it much more interesting to have a nice assortment.
Lots of people certainly sell off duplicates to fund more interesting rocks or equipment. But, if you have an interest in pursuing this hobby, don't be hasty in ridding yourself of excess, only to find you regret it later.
Thank you for your kind words on my site. The more I do, the more I find there is to learn.
