So I didn't ask, trying to not make things weird. I'm so glad you shared it!

Spectrolite is pretty rare. It is very difficult to mine. I knew a guy who got it directly from the miner. I have sold so many that I wish I had kept, but I still have a bunch. Unlike labradorite, the background color is black- the blacker the better. It really makes the colors pop.

Here it is without the light. It is very diectional. One angle to the light... no color. Move it and it pops. It's magical. And now I'm done with the hijack...

Aventurine is found here in northern Utah. Colors range from green, blue, orange and blue-green. All of it has mica inclusions.

rockjunquie - Do you think there's ANY possibility of this being Mtorolite? It was what first came to mind as soon as I saw the backlit shot... Edit - On second glance, it does look too "grainy"...

rockjunquie - Now I love the stuff too! I love photos of your work. Always, I mean always, post any and all pictures at any time in any of my posts! I like hijacks and off topics, they help me know you all better. Oh, and our work was done here, right? We are calling it aventurine? rockinrenn - I keep learning more just from talking to all of you, so thank you! I don't know where this specimen was found, I only know he (the collector) liked it!

Yeah, aventurine seems to be the consensus.
