I look at this, I see possibles but no definites. It's got owyhee features, wonderstone features, and sonoran rhyolite features but I don't know. This is front and back of same piece.

Definitely look like a rhyolite. With that purple, I would say Wonderstone.

I'm starting to celebrate my progress. I feel like I moved up from sitting in the stroller to sitting in the wagon.

Kind of looks like a cross between Wonderstone and Apache Rhyolite. Interesting.

OMG jasoninsd - this is why you're my brother! Here I think I'm wagon ready and you have to hilariously find a way to show me, "Yeah, not yet." LOL I showed the husband this post and he was even laughing. He called me a wagon fail! I missed this. I hope your life isn't so crazy that you can find time to tease me more often. cabby - you're right about the sonoran dendritic and the lack of available dendritic wonderstone on the internet. However, I have a lot of this material and pulled it out just to confirm where we ae all at now. I'm going to post some of these side by side images to show the minuscule difference between the two. I think without having the experience like the others who've commented, or materials to compare in your hand like myself, it's very hard to tell. I've decided this may be another piece of solar flare wonderstone, but that it is a wonderstone. Here's a side by side comparison of the two: Here's the same pieces in a pile of that senoran dendritic: All of the piece are shown wet, only two are wonderstone and the rest is senoran dendritic. I don't know for sure how these photos will look on screens, but in my hand the two wonderstones have the same coloration, where the senoran looks a bit faded beside them. There is also aa dark clay reddish clay coloration that doesn't appear in the senoran rhyolites. The material is almost identical! That's why before I did this, I wasn't sure. Only having handled enough of the senoran led me to question this piece. The wonderstone of this type I have only the two pieces identified so far, so I wasn't as familiar with it. I just recognized it as having similar features. I hope that explains it to everyone, and we can all agree. This is what I like to call same same different LOL.

tribeunited thank you for the comparison photos! I can now see what color you are referring to. I did see that color a couple times in my search but it was probably misidentified pieces instead. Can’t decide if I should shut up and save everyone the trouble, or keep showing how naive I am so people will teach me 😆

cabby never stop asking and sharing! I do it all the time, I'm wrong more often than right, and the people here are so nice about it! They have all taken the time to guide me through this, and I'm always asking silly questions. You saw jasoninsd posting that wagon fail.... LOL Besides, all you did was try and help and found materials that I also had trouble spotting the difference between. You did good! At least I think so This is a learning process and you and I are learning together. Let's both be brave and not be ashamed to embarrass ourselves! I promise to do my part and boldly be an idiot to the best of my ability!

Yes a comparison between sonoran dendritic and solar flare wonderstone. One is a mexican, the other made in utah, but nearly identical. Thank God this guy labeled some or I would be in a state of panic.

Thank God this guy labeled some or I would be in a state of panic. Me thinks you think too hard about it. I really don't see many similarities. To me they are distinctly different.

Very few people have been as involved in their own ID search. You try for yourself, you ask intelligent questions and your "wild" guesses are pretty good. And, you're learning. We'll make a rock hound out of you yet!

I'm limiting my hounding to the kitchen sink, but I now dream about rocks a lot. In my dreams, I find them as full slabs in the wilderness. I don't think they come that way....and I can't really picture myself out in a sundress with a pickaxe yet. I'd have to buy some pants LOL
I may not be a hounder, but I am most certainly a lover at this point. I have real excitement and have been begging husband to bring home more bins! Which is opposite, I used to say stop bringing home bins!
