You know the difference between an 'expert' and a 'professional'?
A professional is an expert that gets paid for their opinion.

Not sure if it’s just the way the light is reflecting, but is the pink core stepped?

I believe so cabby. It appears to be stepped I don’t know enough to make educated guesses from that, but that’s probably a good clue for people that know more. *waits to learn what minerals other than fluorite and pyrite can be stepped*

rhodochrosite stalactite, maybe? Yes and BEAUTIFUL! Did you find those in your stash? The prices on those keep climbing.
eta... I take it you were making a guess. I'd so no it isn't.

I'm sorry, cabby - it was incredibly rude of me not to respond to this! Thank you rockjunquie for keeping me from being a total tool. I meant to come back last night and post this picture. I can see why you would think that based on internet images - I hope this picture better shows the difference. Not that I'm an expert, just having the good fortune to have both specimens on hand is all.

Yeah son, that's what I'm talking about! Rhodochrosite is pretty yummy stuff, especially that bacon.

tribeunited I had forgotten to update my post with a nvm lol. Had realized a couple minutes later that my following link after link after link had led me WAY off track for what you had described and I was basically only looking at pics at that point 😆 ty for updating with a “this vs that” since I do need to drill that stuff into my brain, but I should have edited my post with a “doh!” Anyway
