Jumping into tumbling again after a long hiatus. I jumped into it when our kids were young and we had no clue what we were doing. After months of watching hounding, cutting and polishing videos it was time to get into it. Our equipment arrived Saturday, but we were occupied elsewhere so we didn't get to open anything. It was killing me. Sunday morning, we got everything out of the boxes and started to organize. My wife made some labels, then we sorted grits and rocks. I mounted the motor onto the Rebel 17 (low spin model) and then added some rocks. We started out with some interesting rocks I found in the yard (currently landscaping so we have a nice field of rocks to look at). We also bought some Mexican Crazy Lace Agates and Mozambique Agates. My wife had foot surgery so rock hounding will be limited right now. Some interesting rocks I found in the yard. They seemed pretty hard and if they look ok after rough tumble we'll pass them through to the next stage. The light colored one near the corner of the planter was green, but it's not really showing up here. I am excited to see how the big one on the left does. It is grey, but has darker grey swirls all around it. Didn't see any undercutting so we will see how this one does. Crazy Lace Agates Mozambique Agates Rebel 17 tumbler with a 15 pound capacity. Also have a 3-pound AR-1 not pictured. Stage 1 Started 7/14/24 at 12:30PM with 15 TBS - 60/90 Silicon Carbide (Yard Randoms/MCLA/MA) Planned Stage 1 Finish and inspection 7/21/24 (7 days)

Looking forward to your progress report.
That pebble with elephant painting in the background is too cute. May I take a closer look at it?

Please let your wife know that painting looks fantastic!! Congrats on getting the "tool supply" started! Now...comes...the...waiting...for...the...rocks...to...get...past...stage...one! LOL Thanks. Yes, the waiting. Patience! lol. I almost started another stage 1 in the 3 pound tumbler today, but I resisted. I'm going to just use that as a catch up for rocks that don't pass a stage in the Rebel. Or at least try to. I told my wife her rock got a couple compliments and that made her feel very happy. Thank you.

Looks like good progress and keep us updated. Some of the crazy laces will take very long but it will be worth the long journey.

Batch Number 2 started stage 1 rough tumbling yesterday 7/22/24 for 7 days in 60/90. Using the small 3 lb AR-1. We selected some smokey quartz and 1 piece of fancy jasper. Will update batch 2 next Monday on 7/29/24. Also cut open 2 Moroccan Geodes. Will post a photo of those later in the cutting forum.
Here are the subject tumblers...

Looking good Marty. Are you on a pontoon boat? That's my only guess, but it'll be so obvious once I find out... Yeah, that's the rear swim deck of the boat. I'm working on a light box for after the final polish. Until then just looking for random photo spots.

The green one. Probably right about epidote and feldspar. But there is probably a little clear quartz in there so would you call it Unakite?

Yeah, I would lean towards Unakite if that orangey area is indeed feldspar. Pretty neat to find that on my property. Don't see much else that looks like it up on our hill.
