cut a dowel to fit in the corner where the bend in the lid is, trim it back a little so it is even with the folded corners. Get a sheet of Lexan (stronger than plexiglass and doesn't crack when you drill it) and cut a piece to fit in where the lid goes. Drill holes and bolt it to the hinge, get a heat gun and slowly melt the lexan so it folds over the dowel, you have to be careful to keep the heat even or it will get kind of warped, if you have 2 heat guns it helps. I always cut it a little long and then after it is formed I trim the end for length. It is really easy to trim using a carbide cutter on a flat surface. Drill it for the handle and install the handle. Tony Many thanks Tony. Sounds like a great solution. I've been off-line for a couple of days for some reason and am just now seeing this.
