Finished this one yesterday. Thanks to all of you doing the last challenge. You motivated me to get off my ass and do something. This was from a tutorial by Imbali Crafts. Sadly, it's one of the worst tutorials I've ever purchased, but after much teeth gnashing I finished it. Sorry for the cruddy photo.

I really do love this one Robin! **Since you're back at it, does this mean I have to get off my a$$ and start wrapping again...or can I continue to just destroy cabs on the wheel! LOL

You don't HAVE to get off your a$$ and start wrapping again, but you have to do something with the stones you don't destroy.

This looks so cool! What is the green stone? Thank you! The cab is Malachite. Above that is a faceted Peridot and the eye is a tiny faceted Citrine.

WOW, Robin, how cool ! You did a fabulous job !!! There are so many different techniques in that birdie - coiling, weaving, bead inclusions, etc., etc., etc., even 3 stones.
Over the top & nicely done !
Thanks for sharing him,
Patty

Wow, Robin, you pulled out all the stops!!! It's AWESOME! I love the little handmade prongs. Lots and lots of very nice work in this one. I'm really glad to see you post it- it motivates me to get wrapping, too. I've been on a deep dive genealogy kick. I need to come up for air! LOL! Don't wait so long to post another.

khara liveoak rockbrain rockjunquieThanks you guys. It's been a hot minute since I've wrapped anything and it felt good actually completing something. I love weaving, so this was a good test to see if I'd be able to pick it back up. Truth - I had to trash the beginning of this thing 3 times before I finally got it right because the tutorial was just not that good. I spent an awful lot of time scrutinizing pictures to see what the heck she did. I'll probably do some more now that I have this one under my belt. I do want to do another hummingbird one in silver for myself. I'm not really into wearing copper, but it' good to do a first run of something with because the wire's cheaper.

I love it and I don't know where to start with the "whys" but I'll try anyway. My eyes keep getting drawn to the intricacies of the wire work and the many varieties--so well executed! The little copper balls are a perfect contrast to the weaving. My overall impression is that it was a difficult piece requiring much precision which was accomplished X10. As for teeth, forget the gnashing, I wouldn't have any left.

Oh my gosh! That looks like a cover photo for wire weaver magazine! That's a fact! That's art plus function plus bejeweling plus weaving - breathtaking! So many exclamations! I'm not yelling I'm just very excited! Whippee!

The frame is 3 formed pieces soldered together, although she did have instructions in there for a none soldered version. I think bending the wing and tail wires to the correct size were the most difficult rather than any of the other wrapping. Just some coils added on and the head woven with a simple weave. More patience than anything, really.
