been there. My favorite is when you’re working on cabs with sharp points. Then they catch on the wheels and smash in the tray That is why I put rubber mats in the bottom of my trays. I see that in my future i am in the infancy of setting up a lapidary shop in my garage and rubber mats around the work stations seem like a great idea. Thanks Ryan

For the club shop we found some old rubber conveyor to cut into pieces for the trays. I think I still have some somewhere.

Well i had an idea for my first time ever trying, went out to work on a test slab lol worked and was showing it to my wife and she dropped on the shop floor and broke in half lol...... at least it was only 1 hour wasted been there. My favorite is when you’re working on cabs with sharp points. Then they catch on the wheels and smash in the tray We've seen those points - you'll shoot your eye out kid!

Thanks Ryan I started using them because I was polishing a lot of Petoskey stones and they would sometimes slip out of my fingers and they would occasionally break when they hit the stainless steel trays. Nothing worse than spending a lot of time on a rock and then have it break. I bought some thin textured rubber mat material and cut it to fit. I think I ordered from Amazon but I think you can get similar material at Lowes or Home Depot. It is easy to remove and clean when the rock grit builds up.

I wonder if Sodalite counts for this one or is it too bougie? I've got at least 12 slabs of the stuff looking for a cab to go with it.

Great question rocknrob! I've heard people round here saying it's super cheap material so I wonder if it fits too!!! I've been watching this contest like a hound trying to figure out what people think is cheap and common!

Haha I love how the “simple” theme has become the most confusing one! Guess sometimes it IS better to be more restrictive.

Sodalite shall qualify. I think the spirit is to rule out Ocean Jasper, Royal Imperial Jasper, Plume Agate etc (just to name a few).

Been getting harder to compete with the quality of cabs being produced by others. Been seeing a lot of people finding their groove and stepping their game up.

miket that’s really cool! Yet another material that I had no clue exists! Is that hematite in it?! It’s like a super thin layered BIF, it’s fascinating!

Whats tiger irons price per pound? Like $8 per pound?
That was mean, I’m just screwing with you 😂. I’d actually argue in favor of you that if that is indeed tiger iron, it 100% qualifies for this theme.
