I think the curls are gilding the lily. Lose 'em please.

I think the curls are gilding the lily. Lose 'em please. I've never heard that expression before. So, you got one on me this time.

The curls look like an afterthought. The initial design is excellent!

The curls actually draw a focal point to the stone. They are not overwhelming, having a similar color as the stone itself.

The poll ends tomorrow. Looks like "lose the curls". Tomorrow, I'll change up the curls and get a pic before I cut them off.

If you are selling the piece, leave the curls. If the customer doesn't like them, they are easily removed. At least, that is what I would have done in my jewelry store that I owned and retired from after 35 years.

The customer is always right.

I didn't get here in time to affect the outcome but I agree with it. Please don't take this in any way other than the ultimate complement because you know I am blown away by your work (and please no-one else get offended or discouraged) but simple front side finishing swishes were all I was ever accomplish and so they forever look 'beginner' to me - or something I would attempt and struggle at at my feeble skill level.
When I think of a Tela Formosa piece with swishes they look more like your current avatar or they have some connections to some other badass feature that I would never have thought of doing in a million years.

So, here are those pictures. One with one curl, which isn't as bad and one with no curls, which I like better- but one smaller curl isn't so bad, either.
Thanks for your votes!!

I think the single curl works. It complements the prong design. They're not identical but they work together (to my eye).

rockjunquie , Tela, thanks for this interesting exercise. We all know that tastes in jewelry differ from person to person, but it has been most interesting to hear what each person thinks and why. Of course, some of us are rock snobs, and don't want anything interfering with our rocks. Others are more "creative design" oriented--so nice to have so many different viewpoints!
