xena i pressed the ring in my polymer clay to make a template for the stone then baked the clay to harden it and make a permanent template for this ring style. sands had to show me how to dop as this is new for me. i might have to do several since this is a new method for me but maybe not. i dopped 2 of the blue lace and 1 of the blue tigers eye. would have dopped another couple but we ran out of pencils out here in the workshop.

Those settings are forging settings. The bezels will have to be driven at 45* with a mandrel. Epoxy will not hold the stone for any length of time. The tool to set the stones is called a stake. Sands got pretty good at cutting stones for settings here. They should look great. The rings are also production finished. Effectively, the finishing is like hitting the rings with a gazillion hammers. The rings will need to be treated with denatured alcohol, and borax, and boric acid, annealed, pickled, then forged down. You can use a metric socket to hold the ring, with leather padding in a vise for forging. Should look great. Use a graver to bright cut after forging, and a rubber wheel to smooth the top of the bezel.

I want to see the other side. ;D How do you make the stones stay in? Are they glued?

i was up way late trying to barely, barely grind just enough for them to fit in the settings. the blue tigers eye was already to the "almost" stage so being the chicken that i am, i moved to the blue lace stone lol. it took forever - grind the barest amount, test for fit, grind, test, grind, test.....hours of chicken grinding lol. i'd look, then sands would look, then i'd look, then sands would look. finally it went in! then i was braver on the blue tigers eye. cross-eyed but braver.
cher the setting is just sitting loose on top of the back of the stone. now i've got to take the stones off the dop, flip them over and work the other side which will be the side you see. then they will have to be properly set in the settings.
now i'm nervous about getting the other side right!
