If that's a crap batch, gee, I want to tumble a crap batch. I know a few had some small flaws but the majority were stunning. Thanks for sharing them - I really really liked them.

Just back for another look! Susan I really studied these pictures- I finially see where the flaws are (damn those rocks are on the VERGE of perfect) But I do see them- Yup you are too hard on yourself (but that is ok- cause it makes you turn out some PERFECT batches!) I think the course grind was probably where it all started- there are some areas (especially on EL DEVIL ROCK) that were just not ready to move on- And you know you can't skimp on the course grind- I have been working on ways to "extend" my grit usage (I purchase the 60/90 in 50 Lb buckets) but there just does not seem to be a good shortcut for the Course grind- (I'm using nearly a Pound of 60/90 every 2 weeks in the AR-12) Just now way to cheat the course- Oh well- Still a Fab batch! so Are you gonna re-run some of these?

Hi Susan,
Thanks for sharing , Even if your not satisfied with them,
Did you give them a good burnish for 48 hrs in borax ? if not try that the gloss is just about there,
Again Very many thanks for sharing This is how we all can learn Im sure it will be a help to the "Newbies"

Hey Susan, you do have some sweet looking rocks there, mate. But it would certainly be a huge let down to have waited and waited and waited and get to the end only to be greeted by a disappointment. Thanks for sharing though and thanks to everyone else for sharing you ideas and theories. It certainly helps us novices think about what we're doing and how we are doing it.

Susan: Heck they're not that bad. *S* Actually some of them are really nice, the horn coral especially. I see some flaws and fractures but the shine looks real good. I'm with you though, the darn process takes so long that I always expect prefection and that just don't usually happen with rocks. I just sort out the best of the lot and either recycle the rest or if they're still kind of OK, put them in the box for the kiddie booth or whatever....mel
