the dealer next to me had a box full of these and before I left sunday I just had to get one!! ;D ;D --- they are the canadian ammolites --- talk about some "Fire" --WOW !!--- he had already treated them with an expoxy but said most cut them down then start with a 600 used belt and then take them out to 300,000 diamond --- really brings out the color!!--- this one is about 3" x4" (the red/green are the cheapest- ;D- blue most expensive--notice mine is red/green? ;D)

300,000 diamond!? . . . Ah, what the hell, go for a million. ;D
That looks great now, Snowdog. If you work it, it'd be nice to see some pics of the progress on the way to 300K.
Sounds like we're polishin' rocks in AU (astronomical units) now. ;D ;D

That is gorgeous SD. It is good to see such a beautiful piece in the hands of such a talented artist. I can see another prize from Stoneage industries ending up with snowdog! Daniel

Ohhhh that's real purdy Dave. I got to talk with a gentleman at a show in Portland about a year ago that works that stuff up. At first, I was a little put off because of how little of the actual stone there really is. But then I really stopped & thought about it. It's VERY delicate & fragile in comparison to other rocks in the lapidary world. By making doublets (and triplets?) we are allowed to have this beautiful stone and can put it in anything we want. Without the process...this along with most opals...would be nothing more than junk. Changed my mind about the cabbing processes for ever.

That is absolutely Magnificent. Gives me chills just seeing it in a photo. Must be incredible, seeing it in person.
Really looking forward to more pix as you take it thru the polishing stages.
